only after Quintron & Miss Pussycat already beat them to it though.

too bad the sound was shit at the BB, way too loud

the black lips were sick!!!!- it was absolute TORTURE sitting through that quintron faggy Bullshit. Bowery made a BAD decision to put these 2 together. Bad decision. recent lineups of The Strange Boys>White Denim>Black Lips is a much better idea.

These guys are mediocre at best. But their guitarist wears Wayfarers. Indoors. At night. So that clinches it for me. They must be cool.

I'd never heard anything by either band before yesterday, but I went anyway. It was fun, people were dancing and yelling. And there were cute girls there, too.

Quintron + Ms P are on tour with Black Lips, the pairing had nothing to do with Bowery's 'decision'.
and the Quintron show was amazing. waaay better than black lips. black lips kinda suck.

Quintron may have been the worst opening band of all time. I am moved by the words of Gore Vidal..."having no talent is no longer enough".

Somewhere Grant Norton (bassist for Husker Du) is looking at these pictures of the Black Lips bassist and saying to himself,
"That guy stole my look"
Proto-Handle bar mustache...

maybe quintron and pussyfart are ok for chicks and gays but its no place for a straight guy into garage raock. bad decision on black lips then

Black Lips were lots of fun, as always. I only saw half of Quintron's set and I think it was all right. I only really liked the song the blonde girl was screaming... she is the show.

Somewhere a gay cowboy is looking at pics of Grant Norton and The Black Lips and wondering when he's going to get his royalty check.
Also, did the Black Lips do anything "CRAZY"? Did they pee/set fire to anything? Did they break an N'Sync CD in half? Please tell me they did something fucking crazy, because their music IS NOT THE INTERESTING PART ABOUT THE BAND.

quintron is a really inventive musician who is deeply steeped in r&b roots. he rocks in a major way and always puts on a really good show, visually and aurally. maybe you don't love the sounds he's making, but you've gotta admit he's got some skills and panache. what are you guys, 12?

PS @anonymous 1:42 - people like you are the catalyst for both punk and post-punk, so thanks! asshole!

The emperor (band) has no clothes. Am I the only one to see it?

Are you kidding me about this Quintron Business? He and Miss Pussycat are fucking awesome!!!! Whoever was making such negative comments probably didn't get into the Black Lips until Vice picked them up and started advertising the band all over town. I guess the demographic of people that go to shows here in NY is part of the reason Q&P prefer to stay down in New Orleans, where less bullshit prevails. The Black Lips are pretty mediocre live anyway, and seem to have to rely on stage antics to provoke a response. The show is all about Golden Triangle and Q&P, take the Black Lips off the bill and that'd be one shit I wouldn't give.

I quite like them. Some good stuff coming out of Atlanta.

I saw Suicide and Q%P are not Suicide.
Sorry.

Black Lips were ok at Bowery. They were better at Williamsburg.
Quintron was ok for what it was, I guess.
I dont know its hard to compare them to the black lips.
It was a weird mix.
Golden Triangle was awful.

Ian of the Black Lips is a super nice guy. At least he was when I met him 2 & a half years ago.
