Why would Barack Obama support a neighbor destroying institution like NYU?

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 4:28 PM

^^^^^haha

NYU is worse than al quaeda. as an institution, they have done more damage to NY culturally and aesthetically than al quaeda ever could. only the most spoiled effing rich kids and hipster arseholes can afford to go there. I seriously hope the school goes bankrupt someday and all those penthouse dorms they built are turned into low-income housing or something more interesting than effing NYU freshman hell!

"cue nyu haters"

here i am!!! maybe if nyu wasn't filled with such horrible pretentious douchebags people would have a better opinion of the institution...as it stands, those little hipster losers make a mockery of themselves and their school.

look in the mirror nyu-sters...you look ridiculous...i hope your parents are OK footing the bill for the rest of your lives, cuz i sure as hell aint gonna hire you.

"Why would X support a neighbor destroying institution like X?" is the new "What time does Daft Punk go on?"

this is the non-profit organization?!

"they have done more damage to NY culturally and aesthetically than al quaeda ever could"

What kind of statement is that? I'm actually laughing out loud right now.

"only the most spoiled effing rich kids and hipster arseholes can afford to go there"

Have you ever heard of scholarships and loans?

I've had no help from my parents in paying for my education. I'm up to my ass in loans. This is my own choice, and I'm happy with the education that I got. But I not spoiled by any means.

And you know what, you might not hire us, but plenty of other people will.

You can say you want about NYU as an institution, and I'm sure that a lot of the students there suck (they do). But we're not all like that.

And you know what, this show looks pretty good and cheap.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 5:09 PM

I hate NYU and I can't stand Crystal Castles, but I suppose I should get tickets. Where are they?

Posted by chris | March 28, 2008 5:11 PM

You just went there b/c you didn't get into an Ivy.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 5:13 PM

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 5:21 PM

Ehh, you're right. I didn't get into any Ivy. So I went to NYU. I wasn't too disappointed with this.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 5:35 PM

Well, 5:35, you're no fun to goad.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 5:45 PM

Interesting to see the hate for NYU...its the hipster cool kids living in "gritty" areas who are the shock troops of gentrification...See: Bed-Stuy, neighborhoods on west side of brooklyn...

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 5:50 PM

Haha...if it makes you feel any better I dress like this:

Okay, 5:35/6:02, kudos to your non-Ivy great attitude. Have fun at the show. I'm off to ride horses and buy pink Polo shirts. Good day, sir.

Dude what are you talking about./ They keep a certain amount of tickets for the general public. I bought a ticket for the National the day of the show no problem. You just have to get there early that day to the student center and you will be fine. If you wait till the night you will not get one.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 6:32 PM

Yo Team Facelift blew the Cool Kids and Crystal Castle off the stage at SXSW.

Posted by OMG | March 28, 2008 6:41 PM

no tickets on sale until tuesday afternoon.

ticket central people were pissed this post said tickets went on sale today. ruined their friday!

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 8:26 PM

does anyone know if and where crystal castles will play before then in NYC/surrounding areas?

Posted by julie | March 29, 2008 2:07 PM

uh, they just played tuesday and wednesday night. im guessing this nyu show is the last one.

Posted by Anonymous | March 30, 2008 3:06 PM

NYU actually puts on good shows...saw Wolf Parade there a couple years ago and it was great. And, David Cross was standing in front of me...although maybe it was the fake one--remember that scandal?

Posted by bigapplemusicscene | March 31, 2008 11:34 AM

Where at nyu is the show though?

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2008 7:24 PM

the kimmel center next to the library

Posted by Anonymous | April 1, 2008 5:11 PM

"look in the mirror nyu-sters...you look ridiculous..."

Heh, this person obviously hasn't met many real "nyu-ster"s. I'm one and I've met plenty of others from Long Island, Queens & other places who don't fit this mold that outsiders love to imagine. We don't have a lot of money, but we've got the talent, intelligence and guts to make it here.

Posted by Susan | April 2, 2008 4:21 PM

follow your dreams, susan!! yay!!

you may have guts, but i bet you wear the hipster uniform just like the rest of the nyu hip-tards

Posted by Anonymous | April 2, 2008 4:31 PM

is nyu really full of rich kids? I want to go there for nyc and the music scene but a friend told me about this "documentary" called my freshman year but don't know how reliable this was... there has to be a clique and place for musicians there right?

Posted by rocknroll | September 8, 2008 12:03 AM

everyone is a musician at nyu
