one of the most boring live bands of all time.

beautiful album cover, tho.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2008 4:21 PM

It's like, how much more black could this be? and the answer is none. None more black.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2008 4:27 PM

$41.50. That's a tad expensive -- but I guess it's how big they are now.

McCarren is a pretty cool venue for them, though.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2008 4:28 PM

4:21... I totally agree.

I saw them a couple years back and was bored to death. I still listen to their music every now and then (the old stuff is my favorite) but couldn't they at least attempt to put on a SOMEWHAT exciting live show????

PREEMPTIVE MESSAGE

to everybody complaining about mccarren pool ticket prices...shows there have been the same price since the pool was opened as a for-profit venue (summer of '06?)

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2008 4:34 PM

this is conflicting with the breeders. curses nyc. curses.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2008 4:38 PM

yea really... every time i went to a show at the pool its been that price.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2008 4:40 PM

i work there for the pool parties. i love mccarren.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2008 4:42 PM

these comments are interesting because i've always found them way more dynamic on stage than on their albums.

Posted by grace6697 | March 31, 2008 4:42 PM

me too, grace

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2008 4:47 PM

I predict rain.

Posted by God | March 31, 2008 4:55 PM

^^^^^^I predicted douchebag. I was right.

I don't swim... I'm not that strong a swimmer....

Posted by Fish | March 31, 2008 5:15 PM

I wonder if it's possible to do Breeders AND Death Cab on the same night. Hmmmm...

Posted by maitai | March 31, 2008 9:43 PM

the electric drum playing with one stick during 'title & registration' along with their live show and gibbard's middle school prose can go suck a dick.

grace...

I'd genuinely like to know what you see as being more dynamic about their live shows. I found every song to sound exactly like it does on the albums with very little going on on the stage to supplement the sound (No video projection just colored psychadelic lights) and their stage presence was also lacking. I think the images in my head when I listen to them on my Ipod while riding the train are more exciting than their live show.

^^^Dude, don't ask Grace. If you read a few of the other threads you would see she is a jackass.

There is no question Breeders over Death Cab. They suck

Posted by Anonymous | April 1, 2008 8:32 AM

Anon 8:32 we can also see from other threads you don't like Terminal 5 and just because grace thinks it is ok you think her opinion isn't valid. Whatever...

Posted by Anonymous | April 1, 2008 8:45 AM

Anon 8:45am
I am Anon 8:32am. I believe you have the wrong Anon but yes it is true I do not happen to like T5. Good Guess. I seem to be in the majority with that one so i can see how brilliant it was for you to make that connection. And I was just pointing out that a number of people were callng Grace a jackass on other threads. But it is good to see that you have combined all the Anon's into 1 big one.

Posted by Anonymous | April 1, 2008 8:51 AM

Would be an issue if you didn't post anon! :)

Posted by Anonymous | April 1, 2008 9:02 AM

I think you meant WOULD NOT be an issue. Frankly it is only an issue to the idiot who tries to claim one anon poster is the other
The real issue is that death cab sucks and it seems that Grace is a jackass.

the new album BLOOOOOOOOOOOWS! Serious let down after Plans.

And what is with the Radiohead wannabe New Single & Cover Art?

Posted by mingus | April 1, 2008 10:18 AM

i have a strong feeling i know anonymous and that it is all one dude.

that being said- michael, can't really explain it. i just felt like they opened some of the songs up into another dimension live that i didn't see on the album. it was subtle though, for sure.

Posted by grace6697 | April 1, 2008 10:24 AM

for those who are memebers of death cab's fan club....it says you get 7' with 2 unreleased songs....can you tell me which songs they are???

Posted by Anonymous | April 1, 2008 11:31 AM

I saw DCFC on the Death & Dismemberment tour, and I thought they were good.

Posted by Anonymous | April 1, 2008 11:34 AM

I love Ben & all of death cab's songs, and I think McCarren is one of the most fun invents of the Williamsburg scene SO I'm going with my way little brother and sister to celebrate my 26th birthday and it's going to be one of the best nights of the entire spring, at least for me! Bring on the rain, the haters, and work Wednesday AM, none of it will matter!

Posted by Jess | April 26, 2008 9:22 PM

I would rather listen to Origin's new album: Antithesis.

Posted by Jackie | May 23, 2008 3:23 AM

Any educated guesses on the time line tomorrow? I haven't been to the Pool in 2 years but does this sound about right?

6pm: doors open
7pm: Rogue Wave set
8:30pm: DCFC set
10pm: concert over

Posted by SJ | June 9, 2008 4:51 PM

As much as I enjoy these bands live, I was horribly disappointed with last night's live show. I've seen Rogue Wave before (last time they played @ Irving), they were far less energetic this time. On top of that the sound tech at the venue was HORRIBLE. Despite the earlier soundcheck, he failed to fix the lead vocal levels for Zach Rogue and then for Ben Gibbard. Both singers were unbearable when the bands started to play. Ben's guitars continued to break throughout the concert, until he got so fed up he threw his guitar off stage. If that wasn't enough, the weather ended the concert prematurely, after they had finally plowed through the mediocrity that is Narrow Stairs. Lame. Expensive. The Pool sucks.
