Estelle is #1 and playing Highline Ballroom in NYC

British R&B newcomer Estelle crashed onto the U.K. chart at No. 1 yesterday (March 23) with her single featuring Kanye West, "American Boy" (Homeschool/Atlantic). It's the 28-year-old's first domestic top 10 hit. Meanwhile, Duffy's "Rockferry" (A&M/Universal) started a third week as Britain's best-selling album. [Billboard]Estelle is playing Highline Ballroom in NYC on April 28th. Tickets are on sale. Estelle's last NYC show was at Joe's Pub (and John Legend showed up). The #1 song in question can be heard in the video below.....

Why the fascination with the British charts? Does everybody want to have that "uh, I first heard her a year ago" snobbery? Why not look at the German charts?

Because David Hasslehoff is probably still #1 in Germany!

this chick is garbage...she has Kanye on a track & it's all of a sudden the shit...blah blah blah...she looks like Brandy mated with an alien...and that's bad since Brandy looks like an alien to begin with.

Everyone is hating on her but the truth is, is that she's a kick @SS singer and her album is great. I just saw her in Concert last night and she was as real as it can get. That's more than I can say for the Brooklyn artists that go along with whatever the label requests of them...
