can somebody please tell me what the fucking deal is with these harry potter books?? why the fuck does anybody over the age of 9 want to read a book about a boy wizard and all his child friends? actually, those books are like 800 pages, so why would a 9 year old want to read them either?
bottom line, what is the attraction? why do people care? what is the obsession? why is it that these books are a phenomenon and not some other, slightly more adult/intelligent series? is this more of the hype machine gone crazy or what??

anon 4:06, i was in your same seat about a year ago. then i read book 5-7 and i felt like a moron for doubting the integrity of these books.
READ HARRY POTTER IF YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF HUMAN, SERIOUSLY.

"those books are like 800 pages, so why would a 9 year old want to read them either?"
XD that's great, you just answered your own question. why would a nine year-old read such a book? maybe just because he likes it!? i mean, what kind of question is this? you ask why everybody seems to be possesed with the books; did you never dreamt about being a hero, being able to use magic or find the big love of your life? or finding the best friends and to keep them your whole entire life? that's all what's happening in the books and the reader's can just feel like being a part of this whole magical world.
and now, buy some harry potter books and find out by yourself.
