Lou Reed playing Highline again ($85) + pics from last time

Lou Reed played a show to help celebrate the opening of Highline Ballroom in NYC last year on April 30th (2007). John Zorn was his special guest. I went and took some pictures, but never posted them. Now I have the perfect excuse. Lou Reed is playing Highline Ballroom again - this time to help celebrate their one year anniversary. $85 tickets are now on sale (and presale) for that May 5th show (2008). More photos from last year below.....

last year SY comment, what do you say now, Tiffany?:
Live Nation and Ticketmaster are a bunch of fukwads. There is a $7 "convenience fee", a $1 "venue fee" and then when you go to purchase tickets, they add ANOTHER $5 "shove if up your ass fee" jacking the original $34 tickets up to $47!! You know where they can stick it. It's like the live nation shows at McCarren last year with their $15 service fees. When are people going to learn that this is way too much to pay and start boycotting that shit?! But I guess hipsters never learn a damn thing.

Oh look, a piece of history for those who can afford it. Maybe I'll just go to a museum. Preferably one with mummies.

Funny. Bet you would never say something like that to Lou in person. He would kick the shit out of you, loser.

i was there last year... holy F what a wank-fest (and a drummer-less one at that) it was.
ps. >Funny. Bet you would never say something like that to Lou in person. He would kick the shit out of you, loser.

What a no nothing shitbag you are. The show last year was awesome and beautiful.
Lou may be old but he is in amazing shape and tough as nails. He works out religiously..tai chi as well. Trust me he would kick the shit out of you.

Is that Lou or Joe Piscopo?

>The show last year was awesome and beautiful.
clearly you were either (a) one of those 'crazy' 50yr old rockers in leather pants or (b) on some really amazing drugs that transformed the god awful playing and singing into something wonderful.

Dude give it up. You are way in the minority here. Lou put on a great show and it was given almost uniformly great reviews by people of all ages who went to the show. You are not a trailblazer or enlightened person here.

What time does Daft Punk kick Lou's ass?

how do you figure? so much as i can tell its just you and i going back and forth.

i saw lou play last year, and he sounded absolutely terrible. for better or for worse, he's an artist in the 60's/70's mold, absolultely self-indulgent. if you haven't been into anything he's done in about the past 25 years, then don't go to this concert. as far as reviews, he's like dylan - he could take a big tai chi shit on stage and nostalgic 50-year-old rock critics would still say it's the greatest thing ever.

come on, this is lou fucking reed of the velvet underground, man. jesus h. w. christ.
that said, i wouldn't pay these prices, though. and they can fuck off with their "fees" etc. but that's another issue.

I also went to the show last year with four friends. (If you have to know, 3 of us are in early 30s, 2 in mid 20s). Everybody thought it was a fantastic show. I don't know what you were smoking.

Actually that was not well said at all. Typically stupid response that is extremely far off the mark. And guess what, the lovely thing about this blog is it has a SEARCH function you dope. I remember the comments about the highline show last year well. They were almost all praise for the performance so feel free to do that search and see for yourself. Then you can see how your little statement above was ridiculous and you can shove it up your ass.
Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2008 2:38 PM
>and you can shove it up your ass.
clearly your leather pants are far too tight.

Is this what passes for clever these days? Yawn

don't forget to shake your cane as you say that :)

Dude you sink further down into stupidity with each one of these comments. What is even funnier is that i am 28 but keep trying to wring as much as you think you can out of the lame old age joke.

ahhh no wonder you thought it was good. you weren't even alive when lou WAS good. it's been fun playing this lil game but i have to go out and enjoy the sun now. have a day!

Lou ain't kicking anybody's ass. Look at that first picture. That geriatric can't even get the cap off his water bottle.

Grover sure has aged badly since he left "Sesame Street".

I can't believe there's dispute over Lou Reed's ablity to kick someone's ass...
Would you look at those guns/arms!
