What are the odds that Weiland can go the next 2 months without getting thrown into rehab?

Nice going BV - you finally identified the band that most of your readers were listening to 10 years ago despite their current claims of being so fuckin' indie rock!

What time does Collective Soul go on?

Posted by Count Raffulon | March 28, 2008 1:21 PM

i'm confused ...which band on that bill is considered "one of Rock's greatest bands" ?

Posted by SeanO' | March 28, 2008 1:21 PM

ti-ime to wait too long, to wait too long, to wait too looooong

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 1:30 PM

What time are they adding Four Non-Blondes to the bill?

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 1:36 PM

oh stop hating and go listen to your yeasayer album. STP was great.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 1:39 PM

OMG they were just an awful band. Stole every riff they made. This band was one of the reasons Kurt Cobain blew his fucking brains out.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 1:42 PM

The bottom line is that STP was one of (if not THE) last true "rock" bands, in the Zeppelin/Stones sense of the word. And not because of the drug habits, although those didn't hurt. It was (is) big, loud distortion, and all the rest. I'm pumped.

Posted by StopCrying | March 28, 2008 1:43 PM

No-bands like STP are the fucking reason there are NO MORE Zep/Stones type bands...They sucked all the life out of that genre...

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 1:47 PM

STP is kick ass. all you douches can go listen to deerhoof and sufjan....choke on a cock

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 1:57 PM

STP are hacks with no discernable style. They have no business being in the same breath as the Stones. Does anyone remember their last record, Shangri-La-Dee-Da? What about No. 4? What about the Weiland solo albums or Army Of Anyone? NO.

STP are hacks pure and simple. You know what a Stones song sounds like. You know what a Zep song sounds like. You DON'T know what a STP song sounds like, because it sounds like what ever is hot at the time. Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, even 80s bands ("Big Band Baby"). These guys suck. Period.

"The Rock of New York is Back"

Huh? Did K-Rock change its format again?

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 1:59 PM

Finally! Any doubt surrounding the death of Kurt Cobain is put to rest. Anon 1:42 informs us that it was STP that drove him to suicide. It all makes perfect sense now.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 2:00 PM

haha people are crazy. why hate on people for liking an artist. go listen to whatever you like and shut the fuck up. your opinion is as worthless as your mother.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 2:02 PM

I hope they tour in Mexico so he can get his ass beaten to a pulp! :)

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 2:06 PM

i was listening to seam and tortoise in 1994 and i still didnt mind a stone temple pilots song once in awhile.

WORST COMEBACK EVER

@ 2:06

Given your use of ! and a smiley face, it's pretty apparent that your opinion of anything relating to hard rock is useless anyway, so this post might be moot. But... relating Scott Weiland to emo kids being beat up? Scott Weiland = emo? Please.

Maybe your piece of shit dirtbag whore mother but do not speak for the rest of us. STP were just a horrible band but wow, who knew that all those fake alt metal losers you knew years ago are now reading and posting on blogs.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 2:15 PM

"What about the Weiland solo albums"

12 Bar Blues is a great album!

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 2:17 PM

i like stp !

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 2:20 PM

Actually, "Sour Girl" is a pretty fucking awesome song. Great bassline.

The rest of their stuff--ehh. Harmless. Some of the singles are decent. Hardly worth gettin' yer panties in a bunch arguing. It's not like they're some great polarizing band....

Posted by Mif Fingg | March 28, 2008 2:25 PM

The horrible truth about STP is that the idea for this band was conceived in the office of an A&R guy. "We need a grunge band. Sally - get me some session guitarist on the phone, and see if they can play "grunge".

Posted by Count Raffulon | March 28, 2008 2:34 PM

horrible band....come on. what are you listening too that is so fuckin awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 2:38 PM

^^^^ anything other than STP.
Oh except for what i am sure is your other fave bands...Bush..Cold..Filter...Train

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 2:40 PM

hahah damn your so quick i know your pathetic know and have no life....one of the commenters who just likes to hate. and see you didnt give me anything that your listenign to? so i have really cant comment anymore. for all i know we could like the same stuff. fuckin train thats hillarious though....im sure your probably listening to some eve six right about now....

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 2:44 PM

These guys are just fucking lazy, that’s all. Anyone know how many LPs Robert Pollard put out since STP last played? And he never sent to rehab once.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 2:49 PM

STP creep > radiohead creep (and radiohead is my favorite band).

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 3:27 PM

How much for Weiland's fur?

Posted by jim | March 28, 2008 3:33 PM

stp blows and always will

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 4:27 PM

i am i am i am i said I wanna get next to you

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 4:57 PM

stp = rock n roll
if you've ever seen them live (as I did right after lane staley died, when they opened the show with an unbelievable 'shine on you crazy diamond') you'd know this band kicks fucking ass.

you definitely don't have to like it...but if you can't recognize the fact that these guys (particularly dean and robert deleo) have significant talent you may be slightly (or completely) retarded.

I'll take STP over deerwhoever any day of the week.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 5:10 PM

Dan Deacon > STP

Posted by fart | March 28, 2008 5:15 PM

i agree with 5:10. stp is a great live band, it's better than hearing some guy live with an achy voice singing. (please note that i do enjoy guys with achy voices singing. i mean, i saw bob dylan live eight times. granted, i'm not the lucky one who saw him in his prime. and i've seen bright eyes, but the last performance was disappointing, only because i went to the second show, and it was all from digital ash.) but nonetheless, STP is a great live band. i saw them in 1992 and 1994, both shows were great. it's way better than velvet revolver, who i saw once for free, but left during their set. if you don't like their music, then bash, but they have put on good shows, hopefully they won't disappoint this time around.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 5:53 PM

>>I hope they tour in Mexico so he can get his ass beaten to a pulp! :)

LOL... That's the shit right there!

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2008 6:57 PM

Too bad it takes Scott Weiland to bring some much needed non-politeness back into the rock n roll world, but you have to admit we're in desperate need of some old fashioned drug/rehab/headline-grabbing antics. Many songs in the STP catalog are going to stick around for a long, long time whether you like them or not, and it is true: Matt Sorum's just a hired gun. PS Velvet Revolver's Fall To Pieces was the last power ballad ever recorded... I think.

Great job going on at 10:30 guys. Was very excited to see these guys... DAMNIT!

Posted by DC | June 1, 2008 12:23 AM

Whatsamatta, DC, your mommy dragged your ass back home for your bedtime?

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2008 12:58 AM

i was there too, problem wasn't just not going till 10:30 when you're out in the middle of new jersey, it's that the opener went offstage at 9:10, they set up the stage for STP in about 10 minutes, and then nothing happened till 10:30, most likely because weiland was nowhere to be found till then. he looked to be in TERRIBLE shape tonight.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2008 2:58 AM

Yeah, douchebag, my mommy dragged my ass home. F'ing idiot.

I was told the venue was going to close at 11:00, so going on at 10:30 was really a great idea. The over hour long wait for them to show up was a joke... Weiland was a mess.

Band sounded good - unfortunately, their singer has a serious drug problem. Sad to say, but I don't know how much longer the guy can function or survive.

Posted by DC | June 1, 2008 10:33 AM

I thought the show was actually pretty good. My thoughts on it can be found here: http://sa1va7ion.wordpress.com/.

I agree about just letting people enjoy or dislike what they want. If you want to make a blog post liking/disliking something, that is fine. I don't understand this need for people to comment and just swear and crap. If you don't agree, don't agree. Don't be stupid about it, though.

Oh, and yeah, maybe you couldn't get in after 10:30, but why would you spend all that money (and shows are freaking expensive nowadays) for a show that starts at 7 and not show up until 10:30 anyway?
