Starbucks is losing its (indie) cred

Critics in the music industry say the company squandered its cachet by mismanaging the effort to broaden its music mix......Its sliding reputation in the music business represents a setback in its efforts to build cultural credibility, which have also included promotion of a handful of films like "Akeelah and the Bee," books like Mitch Albom's "For One More Day" and an in-house magazine called Joe. Very funny Michael Showalter bit on his new CD Sandwiches and Cats about Starbucks selling Akeela and the Bee. Showalter details the behind the scenes boardroom discussions from concept to execution of selling that A&TB in all of their stores. You should definitly check that out.

yeah signing mega stars like paul McCartney is not a way to gain "indie cred" in the first place.

If Mitch fucking Albom has indie cred then I'm giving up on the scene entirely.
