actually come to think of it, looks like they just recycled all the groups they had performing for free last summer in other various places throughout the city
Yeah they did, didnt they? so actually fuck you city parks for showing no originality.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 12:44 PM

what time does Daft Punk play Summerstage?

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 12:46 PM

Nowhere does it say Battles is a free show.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 12:48 PM

Yawn... which has generally been the case for the past few years.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 12:54 PM

This news is already a week ago. I guess Austin news is more important than NYC news.

Thievery Corporation is supposedly playing as well. Battles is free, so is LAMC.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 1:03 PM

sonny rollins is free?

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 1:12 PM

id see mavis staples but i deleted that battles album a few months ago...so 2007.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 1:13 PM

Why didn't you post it on your popular New York blog then Anonymous 1:03?

Maybe BV should just post news about Brooklyn shows from now on.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 1:14 PM

Skatalites! Pick it up, pick it up.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 1:17 PM

that Skatalites show is going to be a smoke fest! should be fun!

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 1:20 PM

Sonny ROllins!!!

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 1:29 PM

What is DanceBrazil all about? Sounds like I should be at that one.

anon 1:14:

yeah that would be the idea.

12:48 "Yawn... which has generally been the case for the past few years."

I suspect you've been "yawning" for more than the past few years.A tragedy to go throughout life with such a lack of enthusiasm. Or even the hope of being enthusiastic. At least I won't have to compete with you for blanket space.

I wonder what an exciting "dream line-up" would be for you (barring super big bands ...free concert level)

Best of luck yawny.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 2:04 PM

Summerstage is only a yawn if you are expecting rock acts for free. Every summer they only have one, maybe two rock acts. If you listen only to Pitchfork approved music, Summerstage is not for you.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 2:15 PM

Last year Amadou & Marium played with Daby Toure ... so great. I didn't see one yawn ...except on the train ride home (pooped)

That's really the reason I got Day 3 All Points tix ... I bet they're going tobe the "sleeper cell" of the show ...horrible term I know... sorry ;)

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 2:18 PM

which are the free ones?

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 2:22 PM

"Or even the hope of being enthusiastic. "

You're right--my whole life is filled with unenthusiasm because Summerstage has been below subpar for awhile now. And yes, Anon 2:15, you're right--I'm just a Pitchfork minion who only likes free "rock" concerts.

Man, all the faux-hipsters on this board are seriously annoying. You wonder why the "Bedford Avenue scene" gets such a bad rep.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 2:26 PM

I am not a hipster 2:22 ... nothing faux about me. Maybe some people appreciate things about me that they would like to incorparate in their lives... I usually do the same about people with qualities/ideas that I admire.

But "hip" has a pretty short shelf life. I'll be in this "scene" much longer than you most likely based on your narrow minded comments.

I totally picked this fight with you... sorry.. I love to challange people sometimes, but I mean it in the most respectful way. Sometimes good things come out of it.

Let me bow out of this pissing contest by saying. "You're right". My cloths suck and I like dumb music that make the cool kids look bad on Bedford Ave. (it has nothing to do with the condos) I still might stop by North 3rd for some pizza though ...they're awesome.

I'll even buy you a drink. My totally crappy band is playing a Zebulon Sat night...ask the gtr player for a drink..no questions asked.

I might ask you for some "cool" tips though.

See ya there

Last year was fun! Maldita Vencindad were great live. Too bad there are few/no more operas.

I wish Gogol Bordello would play Summerstage again. Non-free show of course.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 2:49 PM

"I might ask you for some "cool" tips though."

I don't have any for you, bud... I'm not cool whatsoever, obviously, if I'm not psyched about Summerstage's lineup. And I'm clearly narrow-minded, too.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 2:56 PM

That "cool tips" comment was pretty snide wasn't it. Sorry.

I really am bowing out of this chat. I swear this is the last comment.

Gotcha last!!

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2008 3:00 PM

Just kdding .. I won't stop until I convince you to wear a summerstage 08' t-shirt. And then film you walking down Bedford Ave with it on. Then I can exploit the situation when you finally come to your senses. Yes. I'm that evil.

I swear people. I'm done. So sorry for wasting board space. This is definitely pushing it.
