All photos of The Hives taken, by Bao, from Music Hall of Willamsburg in Brooklyn, NY - March 6, 2008. The Donnas opened. Nick Cave was playing the Plug Awards the same night across town at Terminal 5 - the same venue the Hives are playing another sold out show tonight (March 7, 2008)

Dammit Bao, makes me wish I took out my nifty 50 as well. Nice shots.

Howlin Pelle's got some serious forearms.

HIVES ARE LAW.
YOU ARE CRIME.

no get together to tear it apart?

"I can see you have not had hand-clapping in Brooklyn for some time... Clap the hands of Brooklyn!" brilliant show.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2008 11:08 AM

the crowd didn't seem that great from upstairs
maybe it's the acoustics but the cheers could have been louder

the band was brilliant, though
what great showpeople

Hives=one of the best live bands around these days.
Can't wait to see them again.

Last night's show was AWESOME. The Hives are definitely one of the best live bands out there. They play bigger than the space they're playing in.

I just walked by the guitarist (2nd photo) right now on my lunch break. New York is so damn small sometimes.

HAHAHA... I love the Hives live, but those new uniforms make them look like they're playing the HOGWART PROM!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2008 2:36 PM

fuck the Hives, how good is Bao Nguyen the photographer? I bow to you, sir.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2008 2:41 PM

BOW to BAO!

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2008 2:56 PM

Bao....WOW!

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2008 2:57 PM

That guy in the second photo looks like a lot of ppl in NyC

Posted by Jp | March 7, 2008 3:28 PM

He was wearing that same suit.

Posted by Bao | March 7, 2008 3:38 PM

what time did they go on?

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2008 3:49 PM

11:00 PM they were a bit late with getting ready.

Posted by GOPster | March 7, 2008 3:57 PM

the hives really fucking suck

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2008 4:56 PM

like 'em or not, they're the Best Dressed band out there.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2008 6:05 PM

i saw them at bowery a few years ago
they were ok. but i felt that they seemed like an adult boy band

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2008 6:09 PM

The Hives are truly a punk band despite their suits. They really know how to play. If you don't like 'em, you wouldn't have liked the Dead Boys either...which means you suck if you don't like 'em.

ahh that's the same set list when they played the Fillmore! (they signed it for me) =)

also, to anon 2:36, that just makes them all the more sexier haha!

ah seriously, one of the best live shows of my life.

To the smelly douche-muncher that ripped the tossed Hives-tie away from me,

Enjoy the tie! And your tiny, tiny penis.

the J. Giles Band of indie.

Posted by Anonymous | March 8, 2008 3:49 AM

saw them last night and terminal 5...
was that George Costanza on bass?

Posted by moldymind | March 8, 2008 10:42 AM

They were incredible at Terminal 5 last night! What a show.

Posted by Anonymous | March 8, 2008 1:11 PM

don't get me wrong, it was a fun show... but you people above probably would've started levitating had you caught them on their earlier tours.

and really, the T5 bashing should stop. the place is fine for live shows. the sound gets slightly muddy/cavernous, but not every place can be bowery.

Posted by Anonymous | March 8, 2008 1:27 PM

both these shows were phenomenal. Music Hall was sweatier, Terminal 5 was slicker. Amazing crowd both nights--here's to the crazy girls up front on Friday, and here's also to the Terminal 5 security staff for keeping their cool despite all the crowd-surfing.

first Terminal 5 show I've ever seen worth the trouble. listen, it's a fine space for clubbing, discoing, weddings, a cocktail party fundraiser, or a movie, it's just not an adequate live-music venue. The Hives can handle anything, though.
