The Last Shadow Puppets are playing AGAIN TONIGHT

The Last Shadow Puppets (Alex Turner) @ Sound Fix Records (Leia Jospe)
Last Shadow Puppet

Despite the fact that Cake Shop's website currently says used to say that the Arctic Monkeys and The Rascals are playing a free show there tonight at midnight (March 5, 2008), I'm being told that it's just a Lost Shadow Puppets show. The Last Shadow Puppets consist of one (very important) member of Arctic Monkeys, and one member of the Rascals, and they played their very first-ever show in NYC at Sound Fix last night (so this will be their very-second).

Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2008 10:40 PM

oh, people showed up. the place was packed. paris hilton was denied at the door.

jesus, is this payola?

The sound man at Cake Shop damn....you really suck!

Posted by Jonny Greenwood is the man | March 6, 2008 2:55 AM

hahaha the place was pretty packed. it was not full by any means and paris hilton was not denied at the door. Paris Hilton is not even in nyc but that was funny anyway. Show was good except they had some technical difficulties throughout but thats what ya get for not soundchecking. Plus the usual band of idiots screaming out stupid stuff which made things annoying. Although the guy who started singing "such a scummy man" was pretty funny.

As for the arctic monkeys/rascals notice on the cake shop website..ahh cmon man..sometimes you have to use some common sense. DId you really think Arctic Monkeys would play Cake Shop? If you actually did then i have to tell you that Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are doing a set at Pianos on Friday Night.

Posted by Anonymous | March 6, 2008 3:13 AM

How many songs did they do?

Posted by Anonymous | March 6, 2008 3:14 AM

^ Thank you, really great photos

Posted by Anonymous | March 6, 2008 3:28 AM

Oh god the band playing before SUCKED!!!!!!.

I counted 7 songs

Posted by Anonymous | March 6, 2008 3:37 AM

very good last night, much louder than in brooklyn.

same set list, and the guys hung out in the crowd afterwards like the night before too

also that "scummy man" guy was kind of an ass

show would have been a lot better if they played some of those Pearl Jam songs crowd was askin for......

Posted by Anonymous | March 6, 2008 9:39 AM

Totally agree, if they would have ripped "Better Man" like that dude in the bandanna was asking the night would have been a whole lot cooler.

Posted by Anonymous | March 6, 2008 10:05 AM

^Did they cover Black by Pearl Jam? Cause that would have been awesome

Posted by Anonymous | March 6, 2008 10:27 AM

No PJ covers but the show was pretty good (considering the sound was at best OK). Both seemed to be having a real good time and the music itself is nice departure from the sound both of Alex and Miles create in their own bands.

Should be interesting to see where this band goes in the upcoming year. Perhaps will get some Pearl Jam covers next time around (the requests did seem to really crack Miles up).

the suckers! they were amazing they didn't suck!
good grief did some of you kids go just to see the flotsam and jetsam show
the band before suckers were even better chairlift

Posted by Anonymous | March 6, 2008 11:06 AM

oh you are so wrong
the suckers were TERRIBLE
seriously they sucked big time.
it was funny cause you could tell who was there to see them and who was there to see last shadow puppets.
they had a small contigent of little nyu girls in the front while most everyone else was just standing around waiting for that horror show to end.
i could not even understand what they were trying to do
it was like a bad version of Phish. They could play a lot of instruments and just decided lets just throw them all into the mix and see what comes up.

Speaking of Phish, reunion! http://www.jammys.com/

I guess they are playing again tonight - but the question is where? I need to see this show.

How the hell does anyone find out about these things......

Posted by andimac | March 6, 2008 12:06 PM

Andimac,
They are not playing again tonite. They said at the show last night that they were leaving today to go back to england
Sorry

aw suckers weren't TERRIBLE
but i guess amazing was too strong too
they were fun though

i guess it just has to be your thing
and i suppose if you really love the arctic monkeys and brit stuff
suckers wouldn't be your thing
put a smiley on that ish :)
so the right inflection is taken in my comment

"aw suckers weren't TERRIBLE

Yeah fun like a trip to the dentist

"i guess it just has to be your thing

For the record I like a wide variety of music but Suckers sucked.

the nyu girls up front were totally there for arctic monkey-business.

chairlift was best of the evening. i talked to them afterwards; they're so genuine and funny.

Posted by Anonymous | March 6, 2008 2:30 PM

"the nyu girls up front were totally there for arctic monkey-business."

Wow you could not have been any more wrong. They knew every song that the sucky suckers were playing and the minute they were done they all left. How do i know? Cause I was standing right behind them and a bunch of us moved to the front when they took off.

Posted by Anonymous | March 6, 2008 2:39 PM

phish can't do a reunion tour because what's his name is in jail for being a crack head.

Posted by Anonymous | March 6, 2008 5:49 PM

"the nyu girls in the front" WERE there for suckers.
except we don't go to nyu and never did.
personal opinion: suckers rule.
they're my favorites. that's why we jammed so hard.
plus, those boys are hot. and not anything like phish. thank goodness.
artic monkey shadow puppet people not so much our thing.
so, ok. i heart suckers.
