Sources tell TMZ the Van Halen tour has just been canceled! They are currently scheduled to play MSG in NYC on March 17th. Atrocious guitar playing below? We're told arrangements are being made right now to cancel hotel stays for the tour -- which was scheduled to continue through April 19th. Sources tell us the reason for the cancellation is Eddie -- that he is having "issues."
The last three shows had already been canceled. There have been reports that Eddie was out of it during concerts -- and video of recent performances in which his guitar playing was atrocious.

I'm surprised they went this long without incident! I'm glad I saw a show at the beginning of this tour.

"Michael Anthony has got to be laughing his ass off somewhere."
Eddie & Alex are still laughing all the way to the bank, though. (Assuming they haven't already pissed it all away.)

if this is true, it's pretty sad. he could not play the "little guitars" part of this solo, and he didn't even attempt to play "eruption." the end of this solo shows that something is up with EVH. i saw them a few months ago early in the tour and they were just great. this gives some validity to all of david lee roth's complaints about EVH, as big of an ass as roth is.

The tour is NOT CANCELLED. It is official. A few dates had to be postponed as Eddie is undergoing treatment and tests for an ailment. You can make your own guess as to what the ailment is. But the tour is still on and they are still playing MSG on the 17th.

Eddie has been who he is for thirty years; Burned into our collective conscienceness, He has earned a helluva more of my respect than a few frustrated amateur rock critics. Remember, you are who you are as well. BC

Good grief people.....that's better than any one of you could do on your best day....sounds like he was experimenting with tones more than just shredding.......my guess is an "acoustic simulator" combined with a "flanger"...an odd combination, yes but it's still great!

With eddie van halen it was always dave, sammy or
mike anthony's that was the problem with van halen: mike can't write a song or play bass. to me he is good bass player and vocalist. when has alex van halen ever write a song.

Here is some hot shredding too - check out this video on YouTube by Daniel Minteer called "Cheap Guitar Tricks." You'll have to admit that you don't hear a lot of music like this nowdays. It's so nice to hear a return of the styles of Jimmy(s) and Eddie and even David Gilmour - yes, you must hear that first clip...
