"HAHA @ the doof in the yellow shirt in the last pic"
An obvious Bushwick resident.

Damn, everyone is a fucking doofus in all those pictures. SXSWankers.

How is Leia Jospe down in SXSW. She is freaking 16!!!! Good job Mr and Mrs Jospe. Might as well let your daughter miss school to go down to a festival and take pictures of rock bands.
Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2008 12:15 PM
Leave her alone. If I had the chance to do that at 16 I'd do it in an instant. I'm still waiting for my Almost Famous moment.
Posted by GOPster | March 13, 2008 12:27 PM
Well, I'm going to throw a wild guess out here: I suspect Leia Jospe is on spring break right now. See, SXSW sort of plans its festival during a time when a lot of kids are on break. Crazy.

that flyer is a tranny hot mess! omigosh! fun!

"Well, I'm going to throw a wild guess out here: I suspect Leia Jospe is on spring break right now"
College Students have spring break doof. High School students get mid winter break which is in feb.
Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2008 12:34 PM
Um, I grew up in Texas and we had spring break not mid winter break in high school. But you're on to something, keep investigating.

is she 16 for real? she's prob 18-20, no?
Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2008 12:46 PM
Tell that to the judge.

What time does Daft Punk go on trial for statutory rape?

"go to the swami showcase at SXSW and see some good music for a change"
Soooo true. Post/faux/neo-Math crap they hail as the new thing at south by soutwest doesn't come near to anything John Reis and his partners do...
Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2008 1:09 PM
I can't help but hate a band named Shout Out Out Out Out on general principle.
Posted by zik | March 13, 2008 1:10 PM
I'll refrain from making fun of that kid in the yellow shirt because there is obviously something wrong with him.

John Reis and co are hardly doing anything new. The Night Marchers are just a rehash of everything they have done in the past. Awesome? Yes. Innovative? No.

The kid in yellow looks like a geekier version of Bill from Freaks and Geeks

Never said they were inventing the wheel. I'll leave that to stupid bands like Shout Out Out Out (who comes up with such a dumb-ass name...) All I was saying give me RFTC, Hot Snakes or anything Reis and Froberg do over this formulated hipster bullshit. I was actually planning on going to SXSW, after seeing some of the pictures of the kinds of people that attend these events, I'm glad I saved my cash. Pretty pathetic...funny looking but, still pathetic.

the kid in the yellow shirt makes jocks and high school bullies seem like a good idea.

without more frequent updates, i'm going to be forced to make fun of stuff in real life instead of on the internet; real life is sort of scary sometimes.
Posted by burp! | March 13, 2008 4:40 PM
there's nothing wrong with the kid in the yellow t-shirt except too much nylon men's magazine.
Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2008 5:28 PM
"What do you play?"
Own3d.

What with contacts and LasikTM, I just don't understand the practical need for screaming boys in big glasses.

Freak and Geeks is one of the greatest shows of all time.

you're right, i don't think anyone goes to shows if they don't like the kind of people that attend them because honestly, aren't the people more important than the music?

I am fine here in NYC. Matthew Dear was excellent tonight.

When did music mad by white people get so shitty? I mean the exact date? What were some of the causes and were there warning signs? Do you see any way of actively reversing the trend, or is it a phenomenon which must be waited out? I am researching a paper for my freshman sociology class and would appreciate any input. Please send responses via email to fwha2(at)hotmail dot com. Thank you.

^^ I blame Rick Astley, Weezer and hair metal -- in that order.

When did Todd P's website go live?
Posted by Anonymous | March 14, 2008 11:41 AM
Ummm...Will is right. People did go to high school in states outside of the Northeast, and believe it or not, they had different school calendars than those in the Northeast. But we'll just continue to refer to those people as 'morons'. It's easier that way, right?

To all you New Yorkers: As someone living in Austin it's fun to read these BV posts that slag on all the goofy looking people and how many scenesters there are at SXSW.
But guess what, half of them are from Brooklyn, so imagine how much funnier SXSW is for us locals without wristbands.
To anyone at SXSW: Did you see that girl with the oversized sunglasses, high waist jeans and cowboy boots?
How do you find a local in Austin? They're wearing shorts and not jeans in 95 degree weather.
Posted by Elliott | March 14, 2008 7:36 PM
leave the guy in the yellow alone
Posted by Anonymous | March 14, 2008 7:48 PM
So we are basing whether a showcase is worthwhile by what everyone in the crowd is wearing? You're an asshole if that's really what matters to you.
