Zooey Deschanel playing Brooklyn ++ She & Him SXSW pics

There were plenty of opportunities, but I only caught Matt Ward and Zooey Deschanel's new band She & Him once during SXSW. It was a short, but sweet free outdoor performance and interview on Friday afternoon (March 14th). The whole thing was streamed on MPR too, and you can listen in their archives.

The performance was approximately their sixth-ever live show (as you can hear them say in the stream). One of their first was in San Francisco earlier in the month at Noise Pop. One of their next is May 18th at the Great Meadow Fort Mason in San Francisco too, and strangely Zooey has this coming up at Glasslands in Brooklyn too.....
MONDAY MARCH 24TH 8PM $5 21+ (tickets at door night of)This Brooklyn show was "cancelled". More photos from SXSW below....GlassLands is usually closed on Mondays but will open for this special concert!
ZOOEY DESCHANEL(Featuring Ambrosia Parsley of Shivaree,Dave Palmer, The elegant two, plus surprise guests)
Opener Cameron Hull

Ahh BV you suck. DO you really need to post every thing going on. Of course this is She and Him performing but you had to post it so now every loser on here can make it harder for those in the know to get in.
Thanks buddy.

Actually Glasslands yesterday sold tickets at their online ticket site. It is SOLD OUT unfortunately. So too bad if you did not get tickets. Do not show up Monday night. There will be no tickets at the door.

She is gorgeous.
I'm thinking about going just to oogle her...

I didn't know M.Ward was going to be there!
Thanks 6:41pm for pointing it out. I'm sure to go now with all my friends.
BV, you need to learn a thing or two from Anoymous 6:41pm - give us the whole scoop!

Anon 6:43 is probably lying but this BV post insures that the line will be very long at the gig. But it's BV's fault - Oh My Rockness announced the gig earlier in the week so that pretty much sealed the deal right there. 5 bucks...man it's still worth a shot.

NOT BV's fault I meant to say. He blabbed the Hold Steady gig and I still got an RSVP the next afternoon hours before the doors. And it was not packed. So it may be ok...

why cant they say if M Ward is going to be there?
Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2008 6:58 PM
M. Ward is not going to be there.
The show is completely SOLD OUT.
You will not get tickets if you show up

I've seen She & Him, and honestly it doesn't matter a whole lot if he is there or not. This project is all about her.
Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2008 7:12 PM
Yes, there's a line around the door already. Don't go, you will never get in. In fact, don't go to any shows at Glasslands, because there are lines around the block for all of them and you won't get in.
Only go to concerts that are promoted by Bowery Presents, concerts that are safe and don't have LINES AROUND THE BLOCK.

The Original Three >>>>> The Elegant Two

M. Ward is quiet charisma.
Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2008 9:05 PM
to the first post
i think it packs about 100-200
is that a safe guestimate
haha you kids are so funny
these things are never packed and never sold out
i mean if you really care and you're on time and you have your id you're always good
only when they sell advance tickets or when you like to be fashionably late will you run into problems
glasslands generally never sells advance tickets unless you kids send in googles of messages of where can you get tickets
so stay calm and all will be good

Glasslands is the early run-away winner for my Venue of the Year. There are so many good things to say about it, including the staff being fun and good-natured, and the place just having a great vibe. Oh, and of course they continue to book great bands. My next scheduled show there is Awesome Color's CD Release party on May 2, but there are probably going to be excellent shows that pop up in the meantime.

CANCELLED! just got this...
-----
I have just confirmed news that Zooey Deschanel will not be be performing Monday March 24th (it has to do with her management/booking people). I guess these things happen.
Her friends and band-mates are still performing and we still plan on having a awesome night minus one Zooey. So here is the confirmed night of performances:
Monday March 24th 8:00pm $5 21+
Ambrosia Parsley of Shivaree
Jenni Muldaur
with Dave Palmer, Dave Monsey, The Elegant 2 (Chris Maxwell and Phil Hernandez)
opening Cameron Hull

She is SO dreamy. She makes my panties sparkle.
She needs to do more Lords of Acid covers, though.

canceled... or just the ultimate version of those "it's all sold out there's a line rapped around the block" ?

this zooey 'band' sucks, and so do you people who like it and listen to it, you obviously don't know what real music is,.......zooey cannot sing, she cannot act, she can model good, this 'wannabe' band sucks ass, i'm surprised they even let them perform, bad karaoke singers are better than this band, weak bands at carnivals and fairs are better at this band, if this band performed at a cemetary, the people would desperately dig and spring out of their graves and run run run holding their hears,........zooey needs a voice coach, she has a voice potential, as for the other 'band' members, they need to learn how to play their instruments, if zooey was coached and improved her voice, and sang with a real band backing her up, then it would be awesome, but as for now, you might as well have some kindergardeners banging on some instruments to her annoying ramblings..........
