All Points West: +Grizzly Bear -Youssou N'Dour & Black Kids?
Friday, Saturday, Sunday (Aug 8-10, 2008)

A few people have emailed asking if I knew if Robyn was really added to the All Points West lineup. As far as I know, yes, but I see that she still hasn't been assigned a stage or day. I also just noticed (thx Mike) that Grizzly Bear was added to the lineup, and at least one person pointed out (thx Steven) that Youssou N'Dour is no longer listed. Further scientific analysis reveals that Black Kids aren't on there anymore either. Three stage, three day schedule pictured above.

maybe they'll actually add some acts to sunday that would make me want to go
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 10:30 AM
Amadou & Mariam followed by Rodrigo y Gabriela followed by Cat Power is one of the best three band lineups on one stage at the whole festival. Too bad that doesn't follow into Radiohead instead of Jack Johnson. Then again, I can go home early.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 10:35 AM
New Pornograhers --> Underworld --> Radiohead is great too, but Kings of Leon --> Radiohead is the most painful thing I see on there.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 10:36 AM
man, i would love to see neil halstead. why the fuck does he have to tour with such a shit musician (johnson)?
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 10:48 AM
anyone know the lolla line up yet?
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 10:49 AM
What time does Daft Punk go on?
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 10:52 AM
where are the talking heads?
Posted by ree | April 3, 2008 10:52 AM
hmmm i 'm finding VERRRRY INTERESTING information....
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 11:05 AM
Are the three different stages going to play at the same time. Want to see the Roots and Radiohead, but they're both listed as the last act.
Going to love taking the light rail to the park.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 11:08 AM
grizzly - nice addition
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 11:08 AM
Thank goodness i did not get tickets for sunday
When did Kings of Leon stop getting love. They are a great band and excellent love. Dont be afraid of the rock, kids. Not everything has to be so out there like Animal Collective
Oh and dont fret about Youssou. You can still see him in a much smaller place. Joe's Pub. Tickets are only 500.00
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 11:12 AM
this ain't no coachella
Posted by jp | April 3, 2008 11:16 AM
there's a legit rumor going around that daft punk (yes, daft punk) might be added to sunday as the ticket sales are really piss poor right now for that date. stay tuned.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 11:33 AM
What a lame ass line-up. Sorry, but it's true. I'm excited to see Radiohead as much as the next guy, but..come on...Where is Portishead, Spiritualized, The Verve, The Breeders and My Morning Jacket. Oh...forgot they're at Coachella.
Wish I lived on the west coast!
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 11:40 AM
Still All Points Weak.
Note that the lineup has been changing more than you think. At one point, Animal Collective were no longer displayed on the poster.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 11:47 AM
ew, the verve? you gotta be kidding.
it's pretty solid for a small festival
CHILL OUT COMPLAINERS
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 11:53 AM
Daft Punk said they're not performing anywhere in 2008, so fuck you, Anon. 11:33 AM.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 12:01 PM
any idea of what time the Roots are playing? who are they going to be overlapping with?
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 12:02 PM
the verve would be fantastic. This lsit is crap. Which is why most bought tix for the V festival in Toronto. Bless them for hosting quality bands.
thank you phonics, weller and oasis
Posted by mad richard | April 3, 2008 12:09 PM
two of nights of radiohead, people.
Posted by mark | April 3, 2008 12:15 PM
but do two nights of radiohead justify three days of banality? i think not.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 12:18 PM
are people REALLY still bitching about this lineup? go away.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 12:20 PM
Yes, we're still bitching about this lineup. I'm actually offended this is the best they could come up with for "Coachella East". Roots Picnic and Lolla '08 are definitely festivals to attend this year!
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 12:28 PM
so go to those.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 12:32 PM
hilarious that i finally live 25 minutes away from a festival and i have no intention of going. this line up (save for radiohead and KoL) blows.
Posted by grace6697 | April 3, 2008 12:33 PM
^^ yes, LOL.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 12:37 PM
Cmon, anon - people want to LOVE this festival. the fact it isn't as good doesn't mean people are just bitching to hear themselves do so. I really don't like the line up, but i am still going, but I have the means(cash) to do so, and worry to much about it. To be honest, I might just go one day and spend the rest of my time having fun in NYC.
People are complaining because they expected better, MUCH better. GV failed and fumbled on the launch of this festival like no other. Further more, they made it expensive. The proof is in the competition's line ups and ticket prices.
Lolla, Pitchfork, Virgin, Sasquatch, Pemberton, SF, ACL...etc. are all going to KILL this festival. And most of those haven't announced full line ups yet. APW is really that weak. The slow (standstill) ticket sales tale the tell as well. People, with most having their concert dollars stretched already, are going to go where they get the best bang for the buck. GV was really good on delivering this with Coachella, so when APW got announced - you should understand the reasoning for all the bitching.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 12:39 PM
uhh KoL blows nuts
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 12:39 PM
All Points West = FAIL!
Seriously - this line up is weak at best! I'm going to Lolla and Pemberton instead.
P.S. I ahet when people tell those venting their greif to just "go away or go elsewhere."
Does that mean we have to sit and be quiet and just buy the $300 ticket for a lame festival, we all want this to be cool, and it's not. If you are happy with less, then so be it.
Posted by coachellaforever | April 3, 2008 12:42 PM
I agree gracie - i live 20 minutes away and I will not go to this.
Really pisses me off because I have been to Coachella and I know what Goldenvoice is capable of. APW is truly All Points Weak.
Oh, the "bands play longer sets" thing they (GV) are spinning to all the critics is grade a bullshit for, "we failed at getting enough great bands for this."
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 12:45 PM
bad supports
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 12:46 PM
This Brooklyn native will be going to Lolla instead this year, too bad Goldenvoice, you effed up with this one, even with Radiohead (and I love Radiohead).
I will end up spending more money though because of hotel and plane tickets, but I KNOW that line up won't let me down, esp for the MUCH cheaper early bird tickets I scored. ($60)
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 12:48 PM
anon 12:45- you totally know me, methinks.
i think it's balls they're charging so much. they aren't an established brand yet. who do they think they are?
Posted by grace6697 | April 3, 2008 12:50 PM
I agree, horrible support acts (sans KOL), there is like no second/third tier acts worth seeing. Bands with good sized followings and great records are simply nowhere to be found at this thing.
Bands in the vein of Interpol, Modest Mouse, Death Cab, Portishead, Verve, Black Keys, Gnarls, hell... even effing Vampire Weekend would be an improvement in the buzz department.
F - APW
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 12:51 PM
This is really AEG's baby not Goldenvoice, they didn't book the talent for this festival.... I think GV's involvement is much less than people might think. This fest is also smaller in terms of capacity than the other big ones (Coachella , Lolla, Bonnaroo are like 40 to 60,000 per day) All Point West is 1/2 that..
so after they paid Radiohead their money for two nights, they probably didn't have all that much to play with to get the names that other fests have.
Posted by Jason | April 3, 2008 12:54 PM
Lolla is going to own this lame excuse for a festival (big or small)
Now that I think about, every other festival is going to own this one in every way, price, line ups, everything!
Even Pitchfork's fest kicks major ass even without a "radiohead"
Posted by hollatown | April 3, 2008 12:55 PM
Actually Jason I heard the APW cap is NOT half of Coachella - the cap is at least 40,000 (hence the tickets available for any day again).
But the BAD thing about all this is fewer stages/acts with that many people... means you ain't going to see shit. Going to be cramped and lame, and I - like a lot of my friends, ain't buying it this time, see you in Chicago or Baltimore!
This being smaller should mean it being shittier. Hollatown is right Ptichfork's smaller fest owns this one and those three day passes where what, $60??? C'mon AEG and GOLDENVOICE - you know better than try to sell this shitty festival in a heated concert market.
Posted by Concertgoer46 | April 3, 2008 1:00 PM
Radiohead must have cost a fortune, cause the rest of this line up is a joke!
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 1:02 PM
Girl Talk headlining a stage? No additions? $300 bucks? Yeah this festival sucks major assholes.
If RadioHead is at Lolla, I am there, fuck APW!
Posted by truetoyouthom | April 3, 2008 1:04 PM
saturday is the day
tickets for that day were all gone last time i checked
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 1:04 PM
I heard there won't be any additions to APW - further lameness. I am going to try and sell my tickets for greener festival grass.
Posted by Jarvis69 | April 3, 2008 1:06 PM
they should add KORN!
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 1:06 PM
gleener festiver glass?! i fry all way from china see ladiohead and king of reon! fuck you rorra!
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 1:08 PM
There is no saving this festival - APW sucks balls.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 1:08 PM
HAHAHA - Korn!
I am so glad I waited on buying tickets for this - saved myself some cash! Coachella, thank God you still have a decent line up!
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 1:10 PM
The greener fesitval grass is at the roo. Or so I'm told (I'm not a cop)
and oh yeah, APW sucks.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 1:11 PM
APW BLOWS BLOWS BLOWS. They keep deleting ok artists and adding (not officially) even lamer ones (I'm pointing at you Robyn).
I didn't think this line up could get worse, but in the last 2 months, it has.
Posted by QueensmanNYC | April 3, 2008 1:16 PM
ME GO BONNAROO - INSTEAD OF THIS CRAP!
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 1:26 PM
I live in Philly. To be honest I was pretty jazzed about going to this when I heard about Radiohead, but looking at it as a complete festival, it's just not very good. I am no longer jazzed.
I am going to wait to see the complete Virgin line up, because that will end up being cheaper for me anyways, and I like the 5 bands they've announced so far.
Posted by Eagles08 | April 3, 2008 1:29 PM
whatever, you're all still gonna be there.
you know it.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 1:32 PM
Nope.
I might go for Friday, but as it looks right now - I'll be elsewhere.
Posted by keith12345 | April 3, 2008 1:35 PM
^^ queef!
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 1:36 PM
I get RH close - so I ain't going to this crap either.
Posted by midwest | April 3, 2008 1:52 PM
even if this was the most incredible lineup in festival history, the very same assholes complaining now would be bitching about how big festivals suck anyway, and talking about how they're going to see liars at their friend's loft instead.
the people proudly proclaiming their proximity to the event and how they're still not attending are highly amusing. you can see literally any band you want in NYC so what are you so bitter about?
furthermore, i get the impression that all you whiny bitches did not attend radiohead's incredible shows at liberty state park in 2001. those concerts (which cost $55 even seven years ago) had this epic, spine-tingling feel to them in part because of the gorgeous setting - right on the water, with lady liberty and the manhattan skyline looming behind you.
here's a novel idea: attend the show if you like enough bands that are playing. if not, go about your merry way because goldenvoice sure as hell isn't reading your irritating, cynical declarations.
Posted by APW | April 3, 2008 2:19 PM
APW, calm the fuck down.
i'm going to camp in Tennessee for four fucking days to see music i love. i'm not anti-festival.
i live in central jersey and could easily go to APW. i won't though because the lineup is fucking insulting.
deal with it.
Posted by grace6697 | April 3, 2008 2:23 PM
@grace6697:
congratulations on having the time and money to go to bonaroo. nobody fucking cares, and nobody has to "deal" with it.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 2:26 PM
"People are complaining because they expected better, MUCH better."
Exactly. When you look at the lineups for the past years at ACL, Coachella, Lollapalooza, etc., you would think that the first tri-state festival would be amazing. Even the original Field Day Fest had a great lineup. Even the first Siren festival had an amazing lineup, and it was free! What happened? Who dropped the ball? Is Radiohead that expensive that the can't pay other decent bands? Don't tell me Animal Collective are a big name act. Good, yes. Festival act? Methinks not.
But what do we get? Forro In The Dark? I love those guys, they make great music, but I usually catch them in front of 30 people at some bar, no need to see them at a festival.
"This Brooklyn native will be going to Lolla instead this year, "
This Queens native will also be at Lolla.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 2:27 PM
vote romney
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 2:40 PM
...this long-time East Village resident will be at the blue comet stage all three days and having a great time while y'all bridge and tunnel bitchers are cleaning the sand out of your vaginas.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 2:44 PM
enjoy your sucky festival you elitest prick
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 2:51 PM
I think the only ones complaining are the ones that really care about it.
Those who say go your merry way or don't go if you don't like it - don't have a fucking clue. you'll have fun sure, BUT, you could be having a lot more fun if this festival didn't blow monkey testicles.
Posted by haroldrox | April 3, 2008 2:53 PM
Just in...Heard Limp Biskit are reuniting and playing All Point West..Now, this should be awesome!
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 2:55 PM
This NJ guy says a big F YOU, and a big ME NO GO to this stupid excuse for a festival.
and anon 2:44 can suck my fat one while he watches sub par line ups for $300!
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 2:56 PM
On that note, the only way I'd go to this is if GV threw in some free blowjobs.
Posted by crazzzzeeeee | April 3, 2008 2:58 PM
There is an obscene lack of any NY talent (and no the Secret Machines don't count) on this lackluster bill.
I too, will pass on this.
All Points Lame.
Posted by Tron | April 3, 2008 3:00 PM
nope, I care.
as somebody who's been to lots of festivals... I've realized that if I like the bands that are in the festival's lineup... I'm happy.
and I'm looking forward to seeing the bands on the main stage (outside of Jack Johnson)... so I'm not going to get all pissy about bands not being there on stages I'm probably not going to see... but y'all go ahead.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 3:03 PM
does anyone know where to buy silly putty in nyc?
i've looked all over.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 3:06 PM
this show is seriously looking better and better by the minute. judging from these comments, there won't be any hipster douchebags in attendance!
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 3:06 PM
demanding some fucking decent bands at a NYC-area festival does not make me a hipster douchebag.
Posted by grace6697 | April 3, 2008 3:08 PM
you complainers are idiots... Friday has an incredible lineup. I can't wait to see a schedule. Hopefully not to many conflicts between bands I want to see.
Maybe you got Sunday-only tickets, then go ahead and complain.
Posted by Paul | April 3, 2008 3:12 PM
ummm...actually it kind of does, grace6697. first there's the "demanding" part, and then there's the fact that all "fucking decent bands" come through NYC anyway.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 3:15 PM
anon 3:15- never said that decent bands don't come through NYC, that would be a ridiculous argument to make. that being said, the fact that NYC gets great shows does not make APW any more attractive. what sort of moronic logic was that??
Posted by grace6697 | April 3, 2008 3:17 PM
moronic logic is demanding bands you like at a NYC-festival and bitching about a festival being subpar when you can see all of those bands anyway.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 3:21 PM
anon. 3:31- as a consumer, i can make demands, especially at $300 price tag. if the festival promoters/producers choose to feature "eh" bands, i also have a right to stay the fuck home. that's a consumer's prerogative.
i don't think it's moronic to be disappointed about a festival that's in our backyard.
Posted by grace6697 | April 3, 2008 3:30 PM
Consumers Late on Most Payments Since 1992
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 3:34 PM
The rate of delinquencies was the highest since a 2.75 percent rate in the first quarter of 1992. It provides a fresh sign the nation's economy is slowing, and may be in recession.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 3:35 PM
caveat emptor.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 3:53 PM
Im disappointed with APW and there's nothing wrong with that.
So suck it.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 5:03 PM
Sorry everyone - this festival is just not that great. It is perfectly fine to say so.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 5:25 PM
sorry that you don't like good music.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2008 7:20 PM
My god, from reading these comments i can totally see why Grace was being called a jackass in other threads. Listen, you are really fucking stupid. Now go away and shut the fuck up. Sorry for the vitriol but stupidity that this donkey exhibits is just out of control.
Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2008 11:55 AM
I like good music, but APW doesn't have enough of it for the price tag - If I'm going to go to a festival - this one ain't it.
Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2008 4:50 PM
ALL POINTS WEAK
ALL FARTS WEST

ALL POINTS TO A FUCKING LAME ASS MUSIC FESTIVAL

ALL DORKS WHO LIKE ONLY
ALL SUCKS WEST
Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2008 4:53 PM
As a festival goes - this one is shit - even with Radiohead. 8-10 acts per day WTF! When you have 40,000 people and one act playing, guess where everyone will be?
No thanks.
LAME LAME LAME!
Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2008 4:55 PM
anon 7:20!
it is not about the music not being great. The music is. People's taste doesn't figure into it.
The fact I can count the acts on my hands is the problem, the other is they have the nerve to charge 300 large, then when you compare it to others like it has been pointed out) there is reason for the complaining.
Go have fun, but know that other festivals are making an real effort to be better, more diverse and give the music FAN more live bang for the buck!
(just not in our city)
Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2008 4:58 PM
The All Points West festival will be crowded and lame - at least with other festivals more stages and acts mean less of a sardine situation.
40,000 people is way too many for one or two acts playing. Think about it most ampitheaters in the USA seat less than 20,000, and they have seats!
Thank God for Coachella.
Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2008 5:01 PM
I bought 8 tickets to APW Saturday to turn around and sell. What are the chances I a) make a profit on them (that is, what are the chances the concert sells out on saturday?) and b) how much will I have to discount them by (that is, if the concert doesn't sell out). If anyone has any experience flipping tickets like this, I'd love some guidance. This is my first real foray into scalping, and I m nervous given all I ve read on this webpage about the festival.
Posted by TicketSeller | April 4, 2008 7:16 PM
To "TicketSeller" above. Get off this board. You are exactly the kind of scum we are trying to keep off this scene. Get a life you capitalist pig.

it's all about friday. grizzly bear, andrew bird, css, girl talk, radiohead...this is the good day.
oh yeah and underworld.
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2008 8:35 PM
ok, to all you people bitching saying, " oh man all points LAME, this lineup sucks balls, im not gunna go, im going to lolla blah blah blah..." just dont go. you dont need to be assholes and say the same thing everyone has already said. i for one will be at the first two day and then v festival the sunday. i really excited to see animal collective, kings of leon, radiohead, and chromeo on the say stage. and the friday is the same except new pornographers and underworld. i think thats pretty good considering that this and v fest are the only close festivals to me. vineland would have been great though. rage was confirmed.
Posted by nick | April 6, 2008 8:38 PM
