Animal Collective played Panda Bear @ Coachella (video)

Animal Collective was one of the live-from-Coachella streaming performances that I watched this weekend (right before Portishead). And, until it got cut off, I was liking it a lot more than I ever liked an actual in-the-flesh Animal Collective show - especially the part where they played Panda Bear. This video of "Comfy in Nautica" was cut right from that feed.....
Tour Dates HERE.

It was just as boring as every other live show they do.

Jesus, the singing is so off-key that this is unlistenable.

is it still just the three of them playing live these days? i thought the fourth member/animal was going to get back with them onstage after a year off? and, is he going to play that strat or just fuck around with it around his neck? christ, that boy needs some lessons from annie clark.

whoever says that is unlistenable is not smoking enough pot

Personally, I think since Deakin left the band, and Panda moved to Portugal, this band has been on a severe nose dive.

yeah they really need to add Dan Deacon to sound better. that would help. have they ever done comfy before?
Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2008 11:12 AM
It's not off key. He's using a flat sixth in the melody...very eastern, baby.
Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2008 11:13 AM
yeas! replace Deakin with Deacon, why didnt i think of that before? 11:12 you destroy!
Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2008 11:18 AM

yeah eat some doses.. AC = yin and yang
Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2008 5:12 PM
Deakin is not permanently out of the band, but there's no timetable for his return. As much as I think AC want him to return, his recent collaborations with Avey and Kria, and also with Jah Division have been excellent. I'm sure his future projects will be equally as good.
Posted by nyctaper | April 30, 2008 5:21 PM
they really are not good live.

"there's no timetable for his return."
