Posted by ROCK STARchitect | April 23, 2008 5:43 PM

obama: racist reverend, stupid wife, disdain toward pennsylvanians - but hey, at least win butler wishes he could vote for him!

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 5:44 PM

Could have used you in New York, Arcade Fire.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 5:47 PM

Barack Obama supporters = Vampire Weekend fans.

Fact.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 5:48 PM

Hillary: lying husband, PAC donations, voted for the Iraq war, campaign used race baiting tactics, running like a Republican, using Osama in ads, scorched earth/kitchen sink campaign, only cares about herself and not her party....whats not to like?

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 5:54 PM

oh and now is saying she'll bomb the fuck out of Iran! gotta love her :)

Posted by PS | April 23, 2008 5:56 PM

the same lady who said McCain is more ready to be President than Obama, slammed Obama for saying McCain would be better than Bush, shes full of shit

Posted by hypocrite dot gov | April 23, 2008 6:00 PM

What time does Vampire Weekend go on?

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 6:05 PM

They are both lying fucks--so just pick the lying fuck that you prefer.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 6:07 PM

arcade fire like to sue people for getting their music to millions of people. let's rehash that debate.

Posted by brian | April 23, 2008 6:09 PM

5:48 - so true!

Posted by tim duncan | April 23, 2008 6:24 PM

^ I voted for Obama and I hate Vampire Weekend.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 6:35 PM

I like Vampire Weekend and Obama. Am I supposed to feel ashamed? I enjoy some pop on occasion and i had fun seeing them live. I also would prefer a candidate who is more transparent, charismatic, and isn't just republican lite.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 6:43 PM

at what time will jonny leather keep a watchful eye on hispanic thugs trying to steal a month's worth of food money from a fanny pack laying on the floor while voting for obama?

Posted by hipster poseur | April 23, 2008 6:52 PM

I'd like to see someone prominent in the public eye (e.g., Arcade Fire) step up and say that since Democrats are evenly divided, Obama and Clinton should step aside and have the delegates nominate a consensus candidate. If Obama wouldn't agree to this, he'd be just as selfish as Clinton.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 7:01 PM

they're not evenly divided. think the only consensus candidate could be gore.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 7:03 PM

"they're not evenly divided."

Meh, close enough.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 7:09 PM

Ron Paul knows best.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 7:20 PM

hipster poseur, I LOL.

Posted by greg | April 23, 2008 7:32 PM

the arcade fire must be vampire weekend fans. they should ask them to open the shows. i'm sure vampire weekend like obama (they're educated).

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 7:45 PM

close enough???? she's $10 million in debt, he's $40 million in the red...he's ahead by 150 elected delegates, ahead by 400,000 in the popular vote. she cant catch up mathematically unless he implodes which we've already seen he wont do despite what they've thrown at him

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 7:55 PM

we're in for a brokered convention. in such a case there is a VERY good chance Al Gore will win the nomination

the Democrats are tired of losing with candidates who are just a bit too liberal and will almost certainly not nominate Obama

remember it is a political Party, not a federal institution so is not bound to nominate the candidate with the most electoral or popular votes

Posted by T. Jefferson | April 23, 2008 8:17 PM

arcade fire is prominent in the public eye? ok.

Posted by corey | April 23, 2008 8:33 PM

I reprezzzent dis MemphisTee-yun to tha fullezzt, YAHEARDME?!?!?!

Posted by ShermDaddy | April 23, 2008 9:13 PM

BUM BOT FOR PRESIDENT!

Posted by BUM BOT | April 23, 2008 9:36 PM

7:45 - so it's the "educated" who like Obama, is it? it's the "educated" who like the man of the simplistic epithet, the political pastor with the sweeping sentiment, long on emotion but short on substance? It's the "educated" who are taken in by the vague call for 'change'. Yeah, the high school educated, maybe.
Oh and Mr. Butler: Win, Win your man can't win. Go back to Montreal. Don't you realize the Canadiens are in the playoffs??

Posted by notanObamabot | April 23, 2008 11:56 PM

Win's from Texas and the Stars aren't in the playoffs.

remember when mccain called the vietnamese "gooks" a few years ago? my wife is asian, and if he said that around me i would put a brick through his skull. i don't give a fuck if he's a gimp-armed vet. he's a fucking asshole...

and while we're talking about "pastors"--look up mccain's friends, pastor rod parsley and john hagee. these racist motherfuckers are just as insane or more so than rev. wright.

personally i could give a fuck about someone's church. i'm interested in whether or not they'll be an advocate for people who work for a living, or for mult-national corporations with overseas tax loopholes, predatory pharmaceutical companies, no bid defense contractors and oil companies looking for tax handouts.

billary is just as bad as mccain on these issues, too, as her track record proves--and apparently people have had their bellies full of these two hillbillies. hopefully they'll fuck off back to their mobile homes, soon, so the country can move forward...

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2008 12:16 AM

i think he said that a few years ago shortly after he was held prisoner and tortured by Vietnamese soldiers

i dont think he really thinks your wife had anything to do with his emotional response

your other comment was fairly intelligent until you started calling people "hilllbillies" (sp?) which kinda makes you like the man you criticized

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2008 12:38 AM

you fucking hipsters ruined EVERYTHING

music and politics should be separate

and your wife is a gook, but a gook who gives good handjobs at the oriental massage place.....

Jesus, the man earned the right to say gook, gooks were the vietcong....

And what about the way orientals treated mixed race babies....ORIENTALS ARE THE REAL RACISTS

Black is the new white Vote Obama

Posted by Jesco White | April 24, 2008 8:14 AM

Did I wander over to the Sean Hannity comments board by mistake?

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2008 9:08 AM

Obama and Hillary make me want to ralph! I'm voting for Nader. AGAIN!

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2008 10:37 AM

Obama isn't of African slave descent. What's the big deal?
Ignorance and simplicity are dangerous.

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2008 1:24 PM

"i think he said that a few years ago shortly after he was held prisoner and tortured by Vietnamese soldiers"

anon 12:38: hey douchebag--think again. he said it during the 2000 primary elections. "shortly after he was held prisoner" would have been in the fucking 1970s. you dumbass. read a fucking book or newspaper once in a while.

again, if he said that around my wife, i'd punch him in his stupid fucking face. i don't care what he thinks of my wife "personally," a racist comment like that around me gets a punch in the face. what part of that don't you understand?

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2008 6:00 PM

You should all simmer down and read Walter Karp's "Indispensible Enemies".

Karp reminds us that there are two types of candidates: Reformers and Hacks. The hacks of both parties (representing the majority of each) collude to prevent Reformers from being nominated whenever possible.

We know Hillary is a Hack. The question is, is Barack a Reformer?

The last Reform president we had was Jimmy Carter, and he lasted only one term because the Hacks of the Status Quo colluded to get Reagan, a Hack, to quickly replace him. Hacks and Reformers don't get along much more than Democrats and Republicans.

If this is true, then the conclusion is maybe that Barack, like Hillary and McCain, is a Hack. That the slogan "Change" - a Reformist slogan - is a smokescreen.

Of course, I voted for him and I will again in November. But I'm not going to expect a whole lot of Change compared to what Hillary would have offered.

Here's to hopin'...
