LAME!

Monticello is not that far from NYC. This show is most likely the NYC date of the tour.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 10:29 AM

Got my 7 tickets and 7-person suite! Only set me back nearly three grand.

Posted by Ben | April 25, 2008 10:29 AM

if thats the nyc date thats pretty much total horseshit.
there only date in this aread on their eagerly anticipated reunion tour is at a tiny venue that instantaneously sells out and costs hundereds of dollars for admission? if they dont add a real nyc date i'd be pretty shocked.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 10:31 AM

managed to get one 3day ticket around 10:03 but no luck on a 3-4 person (aka affordable) room.

The grotty lodging is part of the charm of ATP.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 11:01 AM

festivals are all about being outdoors and camping, in the rain and mud, i have gone to glastonbury, reading festival, coachella and having it indoors i think personally is going to kill the atmosphere in which it's supposed be experienced in. im' sure there is some sort of insurance factor involved with this since there is no on site camping. i'm sure that the people from ATP made kutsher's some sorta deal so they could make $$ off this too by forcing people to stay onsite and use their ammenities.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 11:14 AM

i bet the food's gonna be *GREAT*!

3 days of borscht, anyone?

(secret: i didn't get tickets and would love to eat borscht for MBV)

see you at the dinner show!

kutchers + mbv = McBORSCHT BELT

Reading the ticket information:
- there were some tickets available without accomodation
- this was only the first batch of tix made available, so it is not "sold out"
- for those who purchase tix w/lodging (assuming room at max. occupancy, it's $225 for 3-days of shows, plus $150 for 3 nights of lodging, plus taxes and fees, so maybe around $450 or so?)

http://www.atpfestival.com/ny/ticket-info.php5

The first batch of three day festival passes are on sale Friday April 25th @ 10AM EST at http://www.atpfestival.com with and without accommodation. More tickets will be on-sale shortly after with accommodations in a nearby hotel....
Limited accommodations are available on-site in motel-like rooms that sleep 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 people. Accommodations are sold by the room in 3 day blocks only, (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), you cannot buy just a single night. You are permitted to have any number up to the maximum occupancy in the room. For example, if you wish to purchase a 4 person occupancy room, you are permitted to have 1 - 4 people sharing the room during the event, and the price is the same for the room, regardless of how many people stay. Each person will still need to purchase a festival pass.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 11:24 AM

i thought this was going on sale at noon....oh well.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 11:30 AM

ok, great, so if i want to buy accomodations for just me i have have to buy a 7 person room?

i don't know 6 other people that want to go
senseless

i hope it bombs

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 11:34 AM

I smell a cash cow for ATP!

Posted by greg | April 25, 2008 11:49 AM

your mom smells like a cow

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 11:57 AM

"ok, great, so if i want to buy accomodations for just me i have have to buy a 7 person room?"

the other rooms sold out. What can they do about it? Check other hotels in the area.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 11:59 AM

"I smell a cash cow for ATP!"

Do you know how much it costs to do a three day show? Do you think the 30 bands are playing for free? Do you think the venue is donating the space? How about security, production staff, and sound engineers? Do you think they are volunteers? And after all that should ATP not make any profit at all? Why? Are they supplying arms to foreign countries or something?

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 12:02 PM

Um... no 12:02, and I hope every band gets their due compensation. I just meant only offering up only 6 or 7 room options up front is kinda bullshit, unless of course the 30 minutes I tried getting a 3 room deal was a dream. Plus considering I only paid $190 for my Lollapalooza tix, you gotta admit this one's pretty steep.

Posted by greg | April 25, 2008 12:09 PM

They are not doing this for charity, that's for sure. Good for them. No ticketmaster. No Bowery Presents. This is going to be an amazing festival, they should make a lot of money and do it every year.

Maybe all you guys that work at Starbucks and hang out at Williamsburg bars and eat free hot dogs and slices at various happy hours should get real jobs so you can enjoy good music like us rich people.

From my Craiglist ad:

"WANTED: Three chicks that want to split a 6 person room with three 30-ish dudes for ATP in Upstate NY. Must love intense 90's dude rock, though the chicks in My Bloody Valentine MAY or MAY not be there. Send a picture and quote your favorite Big Black lyric from 'Songs About Fucking' for consideration."

... I just don't understand why no one's written yet!

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 12:19 PM

I got a ticket plus room for four, and my three friends who are sharing the room with me got their tickets as well this morning.

That is not to say it wasn't super stressful and a pain in the ass. The server kept crashing. Only a lot of persistence and some dumb luck got us hooked up.

But now that we got that taken care of....BRING ON MILLIONS NOW LIVING WILL NEVER DIE!! AND PSYCHIC HEARTS! And freaking Shellac!!! Obviously I have too much else to bug out on before I can even ponder seeing My Bloody Valentine.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 12:22 PM

Surprised at the complaints re: indoor venues.

I have a pretty simple rule most of the time:

bands I want to see (and more importanly, hear)- indoor venues
bands I don't really care about- outdoor venues

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 12:30 PM

i bet Shellac will play two sets

Posted by Canada | April 25, 2008 12:35 PM

i bet i just crapped my pants.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 12:40 PM

RIPOFF!!!

Screw you Kevin Shields! Granted inflation and the changing of times, but the Loveless show in 91 was round 16 bucks if I recall.

Posted by Cory | April 25, 2008 12:41 PM

So, tickets are not really sold out, they will release second batch. Don't worry about anything.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 12:51 PM

"Screw you Kevin Shields! Granted inflation and the changing of times, but the Loveless show in 91 was round 16 bucks if I recall."

So by your calculations how much should this cost?

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 12:52 PM

Yeah, come to think of it, I think I got 12 CDs for a penny in '91 too!!! Screw Kevin Shields AND the whammy bar he rode in on!

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 12:54 PM

MBV will play multiple nights at Beacon Theatre, Theatre @ MSG, Hammerstein or (but hopfeully not) Terminal 5.

Do you really think MBV is finally going to come back to the US for a tour and not play in Manhattan?

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 12:55 PM

Radiohead skipped NYC, so whats your point?

Posted by nsfw | April 25, 2008 1:21 PM

keep on buying up the tickets you f-ing retards. i'll wait for the 3 night stay at hammerstein ballroom in october

Posted by hipster poseur | April 25, 2008 1:32 PM

Regarding the rooms, I think that priority was given to people buying the same amount of tickets that matched the number of persons in a room. I wanted two tickets and a three person room and I didn't have any luck. But I did manage to get two tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 1:34 PM

Derek: So that's what? about 50 hours?
David: 120 hours?

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 1:42 PM

"keep on buying up the tickets you f-ing retards. i'll wait for the 3 night stay at hammerstein ballroom in october"

Oh, all 30 bands that are playing this 3-day festival are playing Hammerstein Ballroom? oh cool.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 1:50 PM

hipster poseur is all over these boards. a complete bore.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 2:00 PM

i think what anon 2:00pm means to say is that hipster poseur is the definition of fin.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 2:02 PM

how the fuck do you buy a 3 person room? i can only buy 6 or 7

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 2:07 PM

"how the fuck do you buy a 3 person room?"

The 3 person rooms are sold out(read the other postings).

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 2:10 PM

^^ sold out. Those were the first to go.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 2:11 PM

Fine, I'll say it:

What time does Daft Punk sell out?

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 3:02 PM

tickets are being put on in two batches - so there is still a chance to buy 3 person room tickets. For all those complaining about the price - you do get the equivalent of a hotel room and entry to the bands and entertainment complex - it's really good value for money. I went to the UK one last may, and going to the Explosions In The Sky one next month. It's a small event, everyone gets along well, best atmosphere I've ever seen for a festival. All the bands play good set lengths (generally an hour each). For all those speculating about Radiohead, etc playing - you're not going to get anyone bigger than MBV. Remember that this is a small, niche festival and that means paying lowish prices for booking the bands. There's no corporate sponsorship to cover big band fees. If you want more info, I suggest you look at the UK music website Drowned In Sound. The community music forum is full of people who've been before to ATP in the UK and can answer any questions. http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/3199519 is the thread for the NY festival. 'jamiesummers' is one person who posts on there all the time - he works for ATP.

Posted by hello | April 25, 2008 3:05 PM

Maybe you whining, undernourished hipsters out there should go out and get a job and stop moaning on about rip offs. ATP has been a phenomenally successful festival in the UK for 10 years now. They are always small, intimate events where like minded people meet friends and and strangers, have fun in a beautiful, quiet place and see amazing music in a unique way. If NO other bands announce (which they will) it will be $7.50/band. No one is forcing anyone to buy a room for 7 people, you could just get tickets alone.

To the post that read 'fuck the internet', sir,I salute you, that side of things didn't go so well, I agree.

And as for you shitheads out there that made comments like 'Screw Kevin Shields', I feel nothing but pity and contempt for you. Just fuck off back to Bedford Avenue and keep quiet. He is a genius and I thank the Lord I'll not have to listen to your snivelling shite at the festival of the decade.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 3:30 PM

"you could just get tickets alone"

Really? Where?

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 3:49 PM

supposedly they will release tickets after all the rooms sell out

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 3:52 PM

you can't buy solo tickets...you can only buy with a 6-7 person room...unless they release more. it said on the site only 3,000 people are admitted to the complex.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 4:03 PM

no .. you got two options when i was lucky enough to get through the 'buy tickets' section at about 10:30 this morning. 'room+tickets' and 'tickets only'. the tix only section allowed a max of 4 tickets per order. i'm not surprised you didn't see it, i think their server must be coal fired or located in sierra leone (or bedford avenue). i nearly had a break-down but so luckily got mine.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 4:41 PM

when does the 2nd batch go on sale?

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 5:04 PM

"you can't buy solo tickets"

Then why did Mr. Know-It-All Anon 3:30 PM suggest to by solo tickets? He apparently knows nothing.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 5:10 PM

you could buy solo tickets, at least solo without a room, not solo for one day only! 1,2,3 or 4 tickets for the weekend. max 4. i think they all went instantly that's probabaly why no one saw them. you can even visit the website right now and see the section for tickets only (without room) and it says 'sold out' against them. so apologise to mr. know-it-all

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 5:44 PM

they went in 3 minutes

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 6:14 PM

Hard Bop is DJing this I think

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 8:57 PM

I still can't believe I actually got tickets to this. It was fucking stressful though -- I had to order 4 tix and secure a 6 person room for the order to go through.

Strangely, I think it'll be worth it.

Posted by maitai | April 26, 2008 12:18 AM

I love how "fucking hipster" is the generic, go-to insult in BV comments, and any characteristics the insulted person displays are thereby attributed to hipsters.

MBV and their management would have to be fools not to think they can sell more than those 3,000 tickets in NYC considering the way MBV has been deified in the decade-plus since they broke up. I'd rather pay $100 to see them on two or three nights in NYC than $300 or more to drive upstate. Seems like a sweet lineup if you've got the cash and don't mind spending a weekend up there, though.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2008 1:00 AM

I bought a solo ticket without a room and had no problem

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2008 11:01 AM

The ticketing system sucks. When I bought 2 tickets (without a room), it didn't work. I retried it and they gave me two sets of 2 tickets. Hopefully they'll fix it, but otherwise I have two extra tickets!! Oh, there are plenty of (much cheaper) hotels in the town 5 miles away. I imagine it would be a quick and convenient bike ride.
