Once again, APW was owned.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 10:50 AM

Very weak compared to the other festivals (APW excluded).

Posted by CN | April 15, 2008 10:54 AM

I think it's not that bad...

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 10:56 AM

break out the middle class grass, this lineup smells like p-ass'ture

Posted by hugo h | April 15, 2008 10:56 AM

NO DAFT PUNK?

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 10:58 AM

Say what you will about the lineup, but the depth is incredible. They've managed to touch on just about every genre that will actually bring people in the gates.

I'm excited about this one.

Posted by Ana | April 15, 2008 11:01 AM

i decided to go to ACL this year and the line-up has not detracted me. It's no Bob Dylan/Bjork/Muse but i missed my chance for that one.

Posted by Puja | April 15, 2008 11:07 AM

are you kidding me? This makes APW look AMAZING

Foo Fighters and Alison Krause as headliners??

HAHA

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 11:07 AM

alison krauss is really good you twat

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 11:21 AM

its not bad - but not as good as last year

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 11:23 AM

"are you kidding me? This makes APW look AMAZING
Foo Fighters and Alison Krause as headliners???HAHA"

Krauss AND Plant!

Plus Beck, Byrne, Erykah, and sooo may more. I'm going to APW and it SUCKS!

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 11:27 AM

Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits are both run by the same people

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 11:29 AM

Lolla > Coachella > Bonnaroo > ACL > Outside Lands> Sasquatch > APW > Rothbury

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 11:31 AM

Manu Chao and Gogol Bordello! I wish they would do another Summerstage show together.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 11:32 AM

dunno, it almost seems like this festival was made specifically by someone wit the opposite taste in music than me

terrible

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 11:43 AM

Here is the official best festvial list:

LOLLA
COACHELLA
BONNAROO
SASQUATCH
V TORONTO
PEMBERTON
ULTRA
OUTSIDE LANDS
ACL
PITCHFORK
V BALTIMORE
V CALGARY
LANGARRADO
ROTHBURY
V VANCOUVER
ALL POINTS WEST

Posted by I know my shit | April 15, 2008 11:52 AM

Ha I agree with that list.

Maybe move Sasquatch up a place or two, but yeah ACL is in the middle somewhere and APW is definitely at the bottom.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 11:54 AM

I would flip Coachella and Lollapalooza - but that list is spot on!

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 11:55 AM

ACl looks boring compared to last year. Sorry - middle of the pack with you - not enough to get me to go.

Lolla - Coach and Pemberton are all better choices for the cash

Oh and if you all didn't know - APW sucks.

It is so terrible when you start comparing it to the other festivals. It really lacks in every area (choice, line up, price, Sunday headliner) The ACL lineup is another kick in the APW groin for sure.

Posted by Ztripper | April 15, 2008 11:59 AM

outside lands should be higher on those lists - i think thats gonna be a good time

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 12:13 PM

radiohead, animal collective, cat power, new porn, underworld, grizzly bear, CSS, andrew bird???

JESUS That is 100000XXXXX better than fucking ACL

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 12:52 PM

ACL is the only festival with John Fogerty.

Posted by LL Smooth J | April 15, 2008 12:55 PM

Underwhelming. Byrne is cool, but Coach/Lolla destroy this.

Posted by zik | April 15, 2008 1:02 PM

Bumbershoot, anyone? Haha

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 1:09 PM

Yeah Anon@1:02! I really wish someone else (Lolla, especially) would stick David Bryne in their schedule.

John Fogerty would be sick too.

Posted by Mark B. | April 15, 2008 1:31 PM

Pemberton should be higher on the list simply based on location! Music in the mountains. Nothing better.

Posted by CN | April 15, 2008 1:38 PM

yeah Fogerty was a good catch and Beck too other than that they raided boonoroo and lolla

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 1:40 PM

festivals are for sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 1:48 PM

"radiohead, animal collective, cat power, new porn, underworld, grizzly bear, CSS, andrew bird???"

Let me guess, Pitchfork is your homepage.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 1:53 PM

"festivals are for sucks."

huh?

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 2:04 PM

"radiohead, animal collective, cat power, new porn, underworld, grizzly bear, CSS, andrew bird???

JESUS That is 100000XXXXX better than fucking ACL

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 12:52 PM"

Ha - you just named the complete 3 day line up.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 2:09 PM

ACL and APW both kinda blow for different reasons.

ACL and Austin are tired, if you want live music in Austin then go SXSW, not this bloated excuse for a festival. they basically get everyone's leftovers with a smattering of aging hipster acts for the love of the douchebags.

If you need to hit up a festival then you have 2 (YES ONLY 2) real choices in the US of A...

Coachella or Lollapalooza.

done.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 2:12 PM

Yeah even though they both suck major ass - I'd go to All Points West over ACL, simply for the fact they got Radiohead and Underworld on the bill, plus Texas in the summer is dreadful. Yes even more so than NJ.

ACL is too hippie-fied for me.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 2:14 PM

The real list.

Coachella!!!!!

Lollapalooza
Smelly Bonnaroo
Sasquatch
Pemberton Where?
V Toronto
Outside Lands
Bumbershoot
Pitchfork Snob Fest
Austin Shitty Limits
V Baltimore Hoodville
V Vancouver
All Points Weak

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 2:17 PM

I went to acl last year - people there smell bad.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 2:18 PM

Yeah a lot of festivals dropped the ball this year in one or another. Auston City Limits, APW, V Fests, and Bumbershoot just don't do it for me.

Others like Coachella, Outside Lands, and Pemberton, made a real effort to get great line ups, in idealic locations.

Lolla and Roo are fine, but if you are only doinf one fest you can certainly do better.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 2:21 PM

Pemberton might be the festival of the year - a real sleeper.

Coachella is always good

Roo and ACl are always crowded and way over-rated. tehy are for people who think they are into music, but would rather drink beer.

Don't get me started on APW.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 2:22 PM

ACl - kinda boring in the line up department

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 2:27 PM

Austin is very underwhelming this year - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 2:28 PM

For me, it's the music and location. And if you put a lot of weight on location like me, then it is hard to beat Coachella or Sasquatch. And now I would put Pemberton into that class. Lolla always has a great lineup, but the location just isn't anything special to me.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 2:29 PM

This festival can't hold Lolla's jockstrap - so sucky!

Coachella kills it in terms of original acts.

Robert Plant headliner? - ha - have fun with that shitty set, that record is awful.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 2:30 PM

I totally agree about the location thing - ACL does NOTHING for me in terms of location or line up this year - I'll choose some other festival (not sure yet)

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 2:45 PM

the best festival is fun fun fun fest in November (Austin) -- waterloo park, cheap, and accessible with great sound -- much more manageable than the big summer fests

Posted by c'est moi | April 15, 2008 3:48 PM

so does this mean jenny lewis really is releasing a brand new solo album soon? here's hoping.

Posted by jon Latessa | April 15, 2008 4:42 PM

wow another festival Jack Johnson is not playing...as far as APW goes, i have a feeling they will be adding better bands. there is no way it could suck this much compared to other festivals ha

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 4:43 PM

This lineup compared to last year sucks!

Posted by Mario | April 15, 2008 4:48 PM

remember folks europe have had great festivals for a long time just glad to see this country with the amount of options on the festival front... truly something for everyone... we should all be really stoked

Posted by louis | April 15, 2008 5:08 PM

How can people say this lineup sucks? I'm looking forward to seeing at least:

Beck
Fogerty (who just plays CCR these days)
Byrne
Raconteurs
Gnarls
Bright Eyes
Badu
Tegan & Sara
Iron & Wine
Neko Case
Band of Horses
Gogol
Black Keys
Okkervil
Hot Chip
Stars
CSS
Del
Man Man
Jamie Lidell
MGMT
Jenny Lewis
Yeasayer
Kills
White Denim
Mates of State
Electric Touch
AA Bondy

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 5:38 PM

Sorry folks....PRINCE, PORTISHEAD, KRAFTWERK, APHEX TWIN, MY MORNING JACKET, even Roger Waters.

Coachella hands down is the BEST festival.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 6:38 PM

agreed!

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2008 10:57 PM

i hope APW is just a one year thing and moves to like Canada or Idaho next year...and Vineland is better! and you need camping.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2008 1:05 PM

but then again...it may actually be good, big money may mean big surprise acts

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2008 1:06 PM

ha

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2008 3:39 PM

Cool, btw take a look http://goodvillenews.com/The-Practice-of-Gratitude-8nVyU1.html - some positive interesting stuff , ciao. There are really three medicines that you should put in your medicine bundle every day, which are the power of genuine acknowledgment and gratitude, genuine apology, and the spirit of laughter and joy."
