Boredoms @ Other Music - March 31, 2008 (Tim Soter)
Boredoms @ Other Music

The Boredoms' Other Music in-store was a once in a lifetime experience for those in attendance who got to witness Japan's legendary experimental tribalists up close in such a small space. With the band's three drummers Muneomi Senju, Yojiro and Yoshimi P-We, EYE's table of effects and a wall of amplifiers taking up half the shop floor, there wasn't any room for the seven-neck guitar, but the group's 40-or-so-minute set was every bit as intense and visceral as Sunday's show at Terminal 5. We have a full review to come; in the meantime, here are a couple of photos courtesy of Tim Soter from last night's performance. Boredom's new album, Super Roots 9 (on Thrill Jockey), will be available for download next Tuesday, April 8th, and the CD is currently in stock at our NYC shop. [Other Music]

i went. it was loud as hell. so loud, in fact, that the power kept cutting out from the three huge amps near the end of their set. and then smoke started coming out of one of the PA speakers.

it was kinda cool.

it was really great. obviously a very different experience than the terminal 5 show. eye and yoshimi did some wonderful vocal trade-offs, and the band generally just turned it on for about 35 mins. unforgettable!
