The mysterious Burial....

!K7 are buzzing on the announcement that the next installment in the DJ-Kicks series comes from the hugely acclaimed, underground dubstep producer BURIAL. The South London producer is notoriously shy of press and public performances yet his last two albums on Kode 9's Hyperdub label have established him as one of the global leaders in this exploding scene on word-of-mouth alone.

The latest DJ-Kicks from Four Tet, Henrik Schwarz, Booka Shade and Hot Chip have all pushed new limits in eclecticism, making linear genre-specific DJ mixes a thing of past... so who knows where Burial will take it next. We hear whisperings from the studio that he may treat his dearest dubstep, techno and even r'n'b tracks with his unique production style before mixing them with exclusive material and... well watch this space.

No he wont do any press and no he won't DJ, but all that's just a thing of the past anyway.
So here's to the future - Burial DJ-Kicks is released out June 23rd on !K7 Records.

burial was pretty good, but nothing earth-shattering or super-progressive...drum & bass has been around, and samey, for a long time...if you like burial, check out photek...he was putting out albums waaaaaaaaaaaaay baaaaaaaaaaaaaack in the 90s!

good call on photek, anon 11:44.

still, i think burial's sound is pretty different from photek.

"untrue" was an excellent 2007 release and deserved all of the critical praise it received.

photek doesnt sound a goddamn thing like burial...are you insane? except for photek's earliest singles, his other work is pure wank.

and while i grew up listening to that stuff, untrue was the first electronic album ive heard in nearly 10 years that is truly progressive and excellent.

"he was putting out albums waaaaaaaaaaaaay baaaaaaaaaaaaaack in the 90s!"

Who gives a fuck, does that makes it better. Untrue was good, and a DJ Kicks from him might be good also, who knows... I was listening to the Replacements remasters last night, "nothing earth-shattering or super-progressive", but some fuckin' good music. That's what it's all about, not who came first.

WTF? Burial hearts mid 90's dark jungle like Photek, but he's not a DnB producer. Educate.

shocked no one has mentioned dubstep in any of these comments.

The thing is, despite being put out by Kode 9's label, and being part of the dubstep scene, by all accounts he is just doing his own thing. Plus I've always thought his stuff sounded way more skippy and garagey a la El-B and the other early dubstep forefathers...and god knows the dubstep scene threw most of the garage heads under the bus back in the day. Dunno. Who cares. He's the tits.

did he really just use soundforge? no way. if so that would be beautiful. live probably right?
