Colin Meloy @ Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY - Apr 17, 2008

Jason stopped by the 2nd of two shows Decemberist Colin Meloy played in Brooklyn last week to promote his new live album out now on his old label Kill Rock Stars. L Magazine recently featured Colin in an article entitled "In Defense of Colin Meloy, On the Occasion of His New Album"....
...he's just like you and all your friends, only he's ridiculously, annoyingly successful -- and he is unabashedly proud of himself, just as, admit it, you would be. He runs around his carefully, elaborately designed stages, with half-choreographed movements, leading the crowd in energetic and impassioned yet playful singalongs. He's a young Wes Anderson of sorts, crafting tiny, possibly meaningless things all around him, just because he can -- using an ever-growing budget to incorporate weirder and more freakishly detailed minutiae by the day. He's created his own world, where his every whim is carried out without question, and that world continues to grow in size, despite his chosen subject matter veering so far from the middle of the road.....Jason said (about the Brooklyn show, that), "Colin played a new song that revolves around a couple after they have had sex in a forest and some nefarious villain comes and harms the girl." More pictures from that show below...

pretension personified, takes himself way too seriously

Lots of joking and chatting with the audience on Thursday night in W'burg - didn't seem to be taking himself too seriously that night.
He also writes great songs and is a great entertainer. Seriously.

it's an acoustic, not a tele. actually, that would make it an ironic tele. you know, since he was in williamsburg and all, it's fitting.
