Deacono

As previously reported, Devo & Tom Tom Club are playing some shows this summer including one at McCarren Pool in Brooklyn on June 26th. And as previously discussed, Dan Deacon is in fact opening this show. Old wacky meets new wacky. $52 tickets are now on "Nokia Ticket Rush" presale.

REMINDER: Do not leave your bag unattended

ALSO: Dan Deacon is playing the Popped Music Festival in Philly

ALSO: Devo are playing Philly too

Maybe Byrne and Eno will stop by to play with Tom Tom Club.

Old wacky meets price gauging.

So much for breaking down barriers between audience and performer.

Thanks for the pass. Just got my tix.

As for the price, there are a lot of old people in these bands who need to get paid. And shit, corporate concerts are expensive now. This is in the low to mid end of things.

You have to face that concerts are now a luxury item. Bitching on a blog won't change anything. If you are cool with it, then buy tickets and have fun. If you are not vote with your wallet and stay home. Most venues discount the cheap seats when they don't sell.

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2008 4:49 PM

Josh Freese of Devo is also touring in Nine Inch Nails this summer. The man is an ace.

wow i can pay $52 to not see Dan Deacon play a show? im sure he'll do his crazy, crazy in the audience schtick which provides the audience great views. that man is a bowl full of monkeys.

perhaps they'll lower the ticket price closer to the show... like they've been doing with a lot of other overpriced shows lately

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2008 6:56 PM

Hard pressed to think they will come anywhere close to filling the pool at those prices.

at what time will jonny leather keep a watchful eye on hispanic thugs trying to steal a month's worth of food money from a fanny pack laying on the floor while singing 'jocko homo'?

Devo was sold out 2 years ago in Manhattan at a similar price.

so people think this wont sell out?
but will it sell poorly enough to warrant a price slash on tix?
i'd love to go, but 52+charges seems kinda excessive.

DONT LET ANYBODY TELL YOU DEVO IS NOT STILL COOL!

(we are all D-E-V-O)

Oh, fuck that. Please. These are the guys who whore their songs out to Disney. They get paid big money to score horrible cartoons. They rent a sizable office space on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. They've got enough f-you money to last until the end of time. Fuck them and the $52 horse that rode in on them.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 9:04 AM

nope-its not a bowery presents show, you wont be able to get tix at MHOW, as far as i know

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2008 9:22 AM

There's going to be a lot of pool shows that I'll be watching from the west end of the fence by the playground, outside the pool complex itself, for absolutely free.

I'll probably just blaze and listen to both their albums...change my shoes n' pretend I'm in Canada.
