Isn't there only like one original member? And wasn't their last NYC show Irving Plaza? How are they able to play a place this big all of a sudden?
I know they're performing an album that was pretty big, but still.

Yeah I don't see this selling out but I will be there!

It's Ian McCulloch and Will Sergeant, who were the primary songwriters... and I wouldn't be surprised if bassist Les Pattinson doesn't join the band for these shows. (He left the band in 99.) It's going to be with a full orchestra, it's a classic record, you're not going to have to sit through a bunch of just-okay '90s material...I think it will sell out...by October.

It should be a good show, but I think they'll play to an empty Radio City.

Saw the original Ocean Rain tour and wouldn't miss this for anything.

ENOUGH WITH THE ALBUM SHOWS. it's like coming up with a "new" reality tv idea. get creative again and make people care.

With an orchestra? This'll be fantastic.

YOU HIPSTERS RUINED EVERYTHING, EVEN THIS.

this will NEVER sell out (except if they end up giving the tickets away just so they can ensure that).
i loved echo & the bunnymen, saw them at a small club on LI called 'Blitz' in like 1981 (reviewed it for my college paper. Even saw Bauhaus there!). Also saw them on some package tour in the late 80's early 90's at Jones Beach.
but these 'album' tours are a gimmick and it will not work in this case. it will not sell out and i'll gladly skip it.

I disagree. I think this will sell out. There are a lot of their fans out there who have been disenchanted by the albums they have released since they got back together. They were at the height of their popularity when Ocean Rain came out and I think a lot of old fans will turn out for this.

With the right ticket price, this can sell out. With a hefty ticket price (orchestra = $) it may have a tough time selling tickets. This is an interesting test of the continuing ability of these old time bands to bring back money-paying fans.
I'll take the free Wire show myself.

If they're only doing this for one show, you'll probably get a good amount of people coming from out of town as well. If plane tickets weren't suddenly the worst deal ever, I'd probably fly out for it. I went & saw them a few times in their reincarnated form & yeah, it was uneven - but when they played shit off Ocean Rain I got goosebumps. There's just something about that album. My biggest concern would be McCulloch's voice holding out.

Ian sounds like shite? What are you smokin'?
I've seen them 5 times in the past 4 years and they sound VERY GOOD for their age. They also continue to make great new music....

This isnt going to be just a regular Bunnymen show !!!This is going to be Ocean Rain with an orchestra !!!I know Ian has been practicing since last September for this when it was first announced they would be playing Royal Albert Hall with the orchestra!!!This is his chance to get the band the credit they deserve seeing that they have been influencing and being copied by tons of new bands!!!Sure hes gotten old and so have us!!But you have to admit Ocean Rain is one of the best albums of our time!!!No one sounds like they did 25 ago but he sure doesnt sound like shite! And what the fuck is wrong with rehashing the past when its Greatness your rehashing!!

I saw DCD at Radio City a couple of years ago and they did a teary eyed "rehash" of old music. I can say the same for Sonic Youth doing Daydream Nation last year at McCarren Pool. I'd say both bands are older, with families, etc... and still managed to pull it off. Ocean Rain is such an orchestrated album that I think their age is irrelevant. Most of Ian's vocals are done in baritone and are softly done. I think Crocodiles would be a much harder album for him to pull off. I expect an emotionally charged show. I can't wait.

I am one of those die hards that is flying in from Detroit to catch this show. This a great chance for U.S. fans to catch the band doing something that the Bunnymen have not done here and you can never go wrong visiting NYC. Whether Les Pattison shows up is another matter, but that would incredible!
