Eels have been more renowned of late for their ever-cynical frontman E's dry gags--inviting George Bush to their show in D.C., attempting to buy a one-second Super Bowl ad--than for their patented Paxil pop. But it's still just as you remember it--brooding, intense, mildly funky. They've just released a greatest-hits set, a two-disc B-side comp (both with corresponding DVDs), and their fifth(!) live album (available only at their shows)--all of which don't have many revelations beyond a few decent singles since they last fell off your radar. [Christopher Weingarten]Eels play their second of two shows at Highline Ballroom tonight (April 2). More pictures below....
Hey...was at the show last night. I arrived at 8:15 and there was a documentary being shown about his father. Supposedley it started around 730. I did get a seat but all the way on the side of the stage. Provided a good view for the concert but a not so good view of the screen. Concert went til 1045 ish. Was a great show. Lot of Electro Shock Blues songs played. Enjoy [Anon]More tour dates HERE

For the second night he played on several Danelectro. The Chet had a gretsch.
