Rocks Off

The Budos Band, The Queers, Agent Orange, Electric Six and other Summer 2008 Rocks Off NYC boat cruise shows are now on sale.

If you've never been on one, you definitely go at least once if you have the cash. Some people complain about the poor sitelines and high prices (drinks especially), but I think the overall experience makes it worth it, especially if it's one of your favorite bands. The views of the skyline and Statue of Liberty are great. It looks like THIS and THIS and THIS.

The cruise itself is totally worth, great views of the west side of new york, and a pleasant three hour escape from the city, but the ceiling on the stage is way too low to actually see anything.

I'm really goo-goo over you,

I'm mentally retarded too

I lost my brain, and I don't know where

Somewhere down in Kenmore square

Look mom and dad, I think this one's OK

She's a punk rocker, hey what can I say

So let's get moving, the girls, so groovy

Oh yeah, she really knows where it's at

I met her at the Rat

She cheers me up when I'm feeling blue

Looks for me and does my laundry

And here I am kissing those lips

Here I am pumping those hips

Look mom and dad, I think this one's OK

She's a punk rocker, hey what can I say

So let's get moving, the girls, so groovy

Oh yeah, she really knows where it's at

I wish they had a better booking agent for Rocks Off because the trip itself is awesome.

Doesn't it seem as if Electric Six play the NY area every other month?

David, what type of bands would you like to see booked?

Those cruise shows are awesome, definitely checking out a couple this year. That Queers show should be pretty crazy.

Looks like Budos Band is playing their home base of Staten Island with a bunch of local bands for an outdoor festival four days after their Rocks Off date. Cheaper tickets, more bands, cheaper beer, etc. I triple-dog-dare anyone to go see them on Staten Island. I'll bet Brooklyn Vegan's never even been there, let alone to witness the Staten Island music scene. The glove is thrown.

agreed. They book all cock rock and hippy shit.

Electric 6? who the heck keeps booking them? They play NYC constantly, even though their only decent record was 5 years ago, and even people who like their records agree they're a terrible live band. Can you imagine being stuck on a boat with any of these bands playing?

Remember the Tinkle Booze Cruise 5 years ago?
That was f*ckin great,... I wish they did it again.
