i've been wanting to check these guys out. how is that new disc? if there was one band to compare them to, who would you say? based upon seeing those instruments, and those expressions on their faces, seems like they're playing mighty fierce. loud? fast?

Heard this show was amazing. So bummed I couldn't make it.

drugs - fucking great name - loved that movie!

they were fucking awesome. 2nd time seeing them at the bowery and they definitely stepped it up and are going to only keep growing. have the bloc party vibe, but bring some new things to the table. worth seeing and their new record is tops.

Even better, The Ruby Suns are opening both shows.

They're like Vampire Weekend meets Sonic Youth.

this show was definitely amazing. i had a great time and everyone seemed to be really in to it.

pissed i'm probably gunna miss out on the Union Hall show. it should be unreal.

It's like a dancey UK version of Battles. With more parts dancey than Battles. Plus the lead singer kinda sounds like Q and Not U

dear god, the last thing we need is another person who thinks they're a rock star architect.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2008 3:57 PM

haha there is another?

Wow,

I never knew the walls of the Bowery were green. That looks so weird.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2008 5:20 PM

record kicks ass -- produced by one of the tv on the radios i guess. $5.99 @ iTunes.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2008 5:26 PM

no telecaster there

and all guitars are made of wood

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2008 5:33 PM

they were energetic and tight as hell, with a fantastic drummer.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2008 5:39 PM

ah! i can't win. when i go home, they're going to be in LA. i love them.

Their record is NOT produced by Sitek. They booted his ass mid-way through because he was stacking their LP with too much reverb (go figure).

Show was fun. They finally had a sax, which really added to their overall aesthetic.

Love the instrumental freakout at the end of "Heavy Water".....

not to be a dick
but it's funny you should say that
because the kramer/travis bean that the vocallist (isn't his name Yannis?) is playing has an aluminum neck.

and some guitars are made of carbon fiber or steel.
but nothing that anyone on the indie scene is playing.
'cept Bon Iver (Dobro)

sitek = reverb. haha. that's funny.

so glad I finally caught them live after missing them a bunch of times in London. Can't wait for Maxwell's!

their record WAS produced by sitek. he definitely wasn't booted. things were just remixed a bit after it left his hands.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2008 9:21 AM

great show. these boyz have got ALOT of energy...and its contagious.

Posted by anon | April 29, 2008 9:53 AM

their record WAS produced by sitek.

The band just remixed it at the end to take off some reverb.

Courtesy of the almighty Wikipedia:

Foals are a band from Oxford, England. The band are signed with Transgressive Records in Europe and Sub Pop in the USA. A full length album—entitled Antidotes—was released on 24 March 2008 in the UK, and 8 April in the USA. It was originally to have been produced by Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio[1] but the band discarded Sitek's final mix and remixed the entire record themselves because Sitek's heavy use of reverb had given their recording a "spacey" sound that they disliked.[2]
