Hold Steady - Webster Hall tix on sale, played CBGB too

Tickets to the The Hold Steady/Virgins show happening at Webster Hall on Friday May 2nd are still on sale (and now you don't need an American Express to buy them).
On a related note, The Hold Steady played that John Varvatos store opening too - the one people were protesting. Rolling Stone has some good video from the whole night.
The Hold Steady also may or may not be playing McCarren Pool this summer. More official Hold Steady tour dates below...

Actually they didn't play CBGB. They played a store that sells really expensive pants.

spotted at the L train stop at bedford avenue: douchey guy with the mustache, probably running to get the train so he would be on time for his date with "to catch a predator"

i can't imagine a successful NYC band not being slagged on here, if they weren't i'd wonder what's wrong with them. new record rules

dude looks like a midwestern lady.
Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 12:21 PM

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 12:43 PM
are people really bashing hold steady?
Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 12:53 PM
yes people really are, because they honest to go suck. It's the most generic bar rock bullshit I've come across.
And yes I think they are douche bags, how am I not a douche bag? Because I'm posting on BrooklynVegan anonymously which immediately makes me pretty fucking cool

Oh come on, people. What's not to like about The Hold Steady. They rock, they drink, they have a good sense of humor. They're not douchebags even in the slightest -- they're surprisingly lacking in any 'tude whatsoever. Its not fucking Vivaldi, its just good fun music.
Posted by nyctaper | April 23, 2008 2:56 PM
it's really good at annoying the fuck out of me. I'll say that!
Posted by mardi gras | April 23, 2008 3:00 PM
it's not good fun music. they are blow-rific
Posted by liz | April 23, 2008 3:08 PM
yeah pretty much everyone hates them except all the people who show up at their shows and buy their records
Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 3:17 PM
nobody said everyone hates them, there of course are people will bad taste. those are the people that buy their records and go to their shows.

"What's not to like about The Hold Steady."
The fact their music is pretty mediocre/overhyped and they bizarrely hold up this “We're a Brooklyn band!” mentality when the all of the band members are all from the midwest.
