RamonesRamones

"As you might know, we never post the line-up until it is set in stone, but here a few hints at some of the acts who will be performing this year:

A very charming band from NJ; a group from the Independent party; a re-united band from the LES who really know how to thread a needle; a formerly degenerate singer; a guitarist/singer who who co-created TV; and the lead singer (from one of Joey's all-time favorite girl groups) who was definitely the leader of her pack- you may also have seen her walking in the sand.
much more to come." [somewhere on JoeyRamone.com]

The annual Joey Ramone Birthday Bash happens at Irving Plaza in NYC on May 19th. Tickets are still available. (thx J)

So Tom Verlaine is there. Who else?

a re-united band from the LES who really know how to thread a needle - LES Stitches; a formerly degenerate singer - Jesse Malin; a guitarist/singer who who co-created TV - Richard Lloyd?; and the lead singer (from one of Joey's all-time favorite girl groups) who was definitely the leader of her pack- you may also have seen her walking in the sand - Mary Weiss.

nah, its definitely more up richard lloyd's alley...he's been playing lots of crapholes lately...he'll fit right in with jesse malin.

if you havent seen him play, he's absolutely insanely amazing. imagine jimi hendrix in 2008.

Ape Fight? Seriously? That would be pretty amusing.

Well now that is a stretch if i have ever seen one. Lloyd is great but comparing him to Hendrix is pretty dumb.

"dont ever go to one of these. sucks so bad."

Are you kidding me? These shows are great! Nothing can top the first one, but it is still great to see '70s punks like Cheetah Chrome rocking out.

"and the lead singer (from one of Joey's all-time favorite girl groups) who was definitely the leader of her pack- you may also have seen her walking in the sand - Mary Weiss."

Wrong (probably). Iy most likely is Ronnie Spector. Joey and her were great friends.

No you are wrong. And making a mistake like that should actually bar you from these shows. Yes Ronnie and Joey were friends and she has played these shows before but cmon dude. "Leader of the Pack" and "(Remember) Walking in the Sand" were 2 songs by The Shangri La's fronted by Mary Weiss

richard hell played bass, not guitar.

Hehehe, I actually didn't read the last part. My bad.

"a formerly degenerate singer - Jesse Malin"

Jesse Malin performed with his post-DGeneration band at the first BDay show. Probably the worst performance of the night.

maybe not as inventive but richard lloyd's playing these days is just monumentally amazing.

group from the Independent party.....The Independents! These guys are from Florence, SC and are like mixing the Ramones and the Misfits, but SKA. Sound strange? It is. And the singer is Evil Presley and he's the best frontman ever.

Well lets talk about the definites-Mary Weiss according to the Dead Flowers My Space page and they book her, and according to the Dictators website Manitoba's Wild Kingdom which is Handsome Dick's post Dictators band (which had most of the Dictators on it) and put out one great album.

Jesse Malin looks pretty solid to perform (at the first bash he had a new band, god, I think they were called Mental something and they were pretty bad). Somehow I don't see Tom Verlaine performing here so I would go with Richard Lloyd. I rather enjoy the Charms but pretty sure they are not from Jersey but New England and I am wondering if it might be Blondie who will be touring.

Have not seen the Independents in a while so it will be good to see them. What no Bullys this year?
Too bad it is on a Monday night.
