"Knitting Factory" venues now in Idaho & Washington too

"The Knitting Factory brings a commitment and style to the Boise music scene unlike anything we have previously experienced," said Dean Hanson, general manager of the Boise venue, in a statement.Of KFE, Matt Judge, general manager of the Spokane venue, added, "We have seen exciting new entertainment in the Spokane area such as Modest Mouse, Bright Eyes, Life House, Rob Zombie, and Phil Vassar...just to name a few. Changing the name from the Big Easy Concert House to Knitting Factory Concert House will heighten venue recognition within the industry, helping bring talent that would otherwise be absent in the Spokane market. The Knitting Factory Concert House will continue to be one of the driving forces in the Spokane market." [Ticket News]

though Fucked Up is playing The "NYC" Knittng Factory on May 9th, something tells they won't be visiting the Boise site anytime soon unless they change their name to "Messed Up" or something like that.

"music" and "market" in the same sentence, I like that, a timeless classic...

I’m curious why they’re just now changing their names to Knitting Factory. KF Ent. (or whatever it’s called) has owned these venues for over a year. Can’t they still maintain ‘commitment and style’ without the KF branding? KF the next House of Blues?

the comments already posted make me ask these questions: Have you ever lived in Boise? Have you ever lived in Spokane? Do you take New York for granted? How often to you go to a club owned by Bowery Presents? Do you spend the rest of your life hating everything? Have you ever run a music venue?

To those of you who have not noticed... almost all the historic small venues of NYC are gone. Bless the Knit for hanging on! Maybe they see the writing on the wall. In any event, why would I have a beef with them bringing music to Boise.

albeit on a smaller level, this is no different than when live nation bought irving plaza, TLA and 8-10 other existing venues and BRANDED them "the fillmore." this is just another nail in the coffin of independent business. in 10-20 years we will only have chain stores and big box retailers because of dumbfucks like you who think moves like this are positive.

They can change the name but it will still be the Big Sleazy. What a shithole that place has become. I hope they seriously plan on douching the joint when they change the sign.
As for DEAN, he knows as much about music as a fish does to walking or flying or something. The guys a lascivious pathetic joke.
I give em 2 years... till the ball of yarn unwinds.
Yea over saturation here we come!
