Mutek

electronic music in Montreal....

From this coming May 28th to June 1st, the MUTEK festival will take over the city of Montreal for its 9th consecutive year and shake the foundations of the downtown core with the rhythmic undercurrents of electronic music and mutations in digital creativity.

Nearly one hundred artists and panelists will converge upon Montreal from four corners of the world to stimulate and astonish audiences with their artistic talents and aesthetic inspiration. Five days of adventure and discovery, numerous headliners (Carl Craig, Radio Slave, Modeselektor, Underground Resistance, Christian Fennesz, Kid Koala, and Kode 9 & Space Ape, to name a few) rubbing shoulders with emerging artists, more than 50 indoor and outdoor performances, 16 of which are Canadian or North American premieres.

Over the years, the festival has developed a large and dedicated following that transcends the city of its creation; in fact, more than 35% of those who attend MUTEK come from outside Quebec. Over the years, the MUTEK festival has distinguished itself as a truly an international cultural experience, an important cultural destination on a new, global circuit of cultural tourism.

MUTEK 2008 will take place in 4 venues in downtown Montreal: the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT), the Metropolis, and Parc Jean-Drapeau.
