yep

It's pretty awesome. Loads fast, and the content is high quality.
Can they keep it at the same level and updated regularly is the question.
But honestly, much better then I thought considering how sparse their actual webpage is, lol.
Posted by Reg! | April 9, 2008 12:40 PM
agreed with all of the above...
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 12:44 PM
i feel like productivity levels of people aged 16-30 are going to go down drastically if this site is kept updated and what not.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 12:45 PM
Pretty excellent regardless of whether you like Pitchfork or not.
Still awaiting the imminent backlash.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 12:50 PM
I feel like they have too many people on promotion department staff: fake gushing anonymous blog commenting division
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 12:52 PM
1252 obviously hasnt looked at it yet. pitchfork is pretty fucking annoying, however they have put together some good videos, you cant argue that.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 12:55 PM
I doubt Drupal can handle the load. It will probably be ok as long as they don't allow user accounts.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 12:55 PM
it's pretty solid, I think. I'm actually pretty excited about it, if it lives up to the potential it's showing my work ethic is going to drop even lower.
damn you architecture school
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 1:01 PM
hey, I work for Pitchfork and i hate it!! but then, i hate everything
Posted by marc_hogan | April 9, 2008 1:07 PM
They taped a lot of shows, that I know of they taped Dan Deacon at Whitney Museum, Marc Ribot Ceramic Dog at Knit, and Health and all the other bands at Knit last week, are those guys there every night now?
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 1:08 PM
Can't complain. Good stuff so far.
Posted by Mid Fingg | April 9, 2008 1:13 PM
i think its pretty awesome. Agree with the "productivity" comment....and i just barely make the cut ;)
Posted by ryan freshbread | April 9, 2008 1:19 PM
it's definitely great.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 1:25 PM
I enjoy it so far. If they manage to have a different film (ala the Pixies documentary) each week, that will be quite cool.
Posted by simone | April 9, 2008 1:25 PM
Woohoo! I just hope the updates don't totally drop off in week two.

People who write on the wall roll their shit into little balls...
People who read the writing on the wall, eat the balls of shit.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 1:28 PM
could you guys possibilly make it more obvious that you're Pitchfork TV staff?
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 1:28 PM
Everyone's right, it's not sucking off pitchfork to say this is a pretty cool service so far... solid content minus critical commentary, yes please!
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 1:32 PM
thats not really true, some of the best poetry/art Ive ever seen was written on walls, highway underpasses, subway platforms, etc
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 1:33 PM
"could you guys possibilly make it more obvious that you're Pitchfork TV staff?"
could you make it anymore obvious you're a TMT staffer?
also, the onion runs fine on drupal which i'm sure has a pretty intense (granted with less video). as long as pitchfork adds enough ajax web cluster blog widgets their servers will be fine.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 1:36 PM
love it. th' hatahz are fart faces-uh!
Posted by mark eee smith | April 9, 2008 1:39 PM
They are obviously throwing a bunch of money at it, and hopefully it will pay off for them. It's good that someone can afford the 'arm + leg' house fees that the Knit, Bowery Presents, etc charge. There's a lot of good shows that otherwise would never see the light of net.
It certainly makes life easier for me knowing I can concentrate on more obscure stuff.
Posted by joly | April 9, 2008 1:41 PM
dude. I don't know what TMT is.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 1:44 PM
prediction: pitchfork tv, cancelled by next fall.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 1:46 PM
prediction: pitchfork.tv, bigger than pitchforkmedia.com by next fall
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 1:54 PM
yeah b/c its not like anybody's watching it!!!!! oh wait youre retarded
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 1:55 PM
The Onion doesn't have user accounts either.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 2:00 PM
pretty cool, wish there was more
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 2:02 PM
i don't even know what this is
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 2:06 PM
plus he knows about microphones, what could be cooler than that?
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 2:08 PM
Less than a week gone so i guess their isn't much room for appraisal and/or criticism. Maybe once we have a chance to see the updates and how regular their features change, then we'll get a better idea.
Personally, so far, i like it. I don't think the navigation of it is all that hot, A-Z on music Video's - you have to scroll through, be nice to be able to jump to a letter, for example. I'm sure all of these things will develop as the site progresses.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 2:16 PM
The trailers are absolutely painful. Fred Armisen has to be one of the least funny people on Earth.
And PF has gone so downhill in the past year or so. Every record that they praise sucks ass.
Posted by Hipster | April 9, 2008 2:17 PM
news flash: hardly anyone cares about this tiny little cottage industry called indie rock. we're talking small numbers here, people.
bigger newsflash: it's actually kind of gross that ad space hucksters like Pitchfork and Vice (etc) are hitching their wagons to this for real grassroots scene. Remember that? when it was an indie rock scene, and not an "industry"?
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 2:29 PM
Please, please, I beg all readers--let's stop using the phrase "indie rock" to describe any music in the present!! It's a phrase about as valid as new wave or punk. There's no such thing anymore as indie rock.
Posted by Mid Fingg | April 9, 2008 2:33 PM
it's indie rock dude, there isn't a better word for it.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 2:38 PM
Not bad. We'll see if they blow it
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 2:44 PM
it's not fair to compare "indie" to mindless genre identification. we all know what it means, and it applies equally to bardo pond as it does to radiohead. but not to coldplay. just because there is money to be made doesn't mean the distinction is meaningless.
pitchfork has fallen very hard. i used to find a lot of bands on that site, but now it's all that psych pop garbage that my little sister likes. when is iran putting out a new album? that was a good pitchfork find.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 2:58 PM
Why can't you embed ALL of the videos?
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 3:02 PM
its awesome.
Posted by d | April 9, 2008 3:14 PM
not much to write home about
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 3:28 PM
pitchfork has a tv channel? i hadn't heard anything about it
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 3:48 PM
PF just had a big release for their new video website and guess what ... people are going to talk about it. *Shock* I don't get how mentioning this fact, let alone liking the site automatically makes you a staffer for them.
btw: TMT - Tiny Mix Tapes.
Posted by Joe | April 9, 2008 3:48 PM
i was reading some article a while ago that brought up an interesting point about pitchfork fest/ pitchfork tv.
lets say pitchfork tv wants to do a special on a band and the band doesn't want them to. will the band ever have the balls to say no...? same goes for playing the pitchfork fest.
if a band is playing pitchfork fest and then all of a sudden drop a new album that sucks...is pitchfork going to trash the album....is some higher up going to be like ...."give it a good review because we need to sell tix to the festival..."
i think pfork tv is great but when you are a site that is about editorial content, running a music festival and tv site can seriously alter the integrity of that.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 3:52 PM
the BEST part is how they don't have comments, seriously. Comments on news or blog posts are one thing. Comments on videos are generally vomit inducing. It's much more classy.
It really is a straight television channel. You can hook up your computer to the TV, full screen it (fast!), hit play, and it'll cycle through everything. Totally dig it. I've run into a selects-the-next-video-instead-of-the-one-you-click bug on a number of occasions already. That's no big deal though.
Props to pitchfork.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 3:53 PM
dude TMT is totally wiping out VBS & PTV in the key demos.
translated to English: you all suck at this viral marketing shit. everybody can tell it's just your staffers posting phony positive comemnts.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 4:04 PM
it's not unreasonable that people would have positive thing to say about this internet TV station, but these particluar comments on this particular site are obviously ungraceful fakes.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 4:10 PM
no one has editorial integrity unless it's some 13 year old kid posting on his blog.
that applies to Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Brooklyn Vegan you name it. I trust a 13 year old kid more.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 4:15 PM
They sure play lots of crap.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 5:43 PM
i think you haters are just saying that to make the discussion juicy and get people to the site. YOU ARE THE FAKERS!
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 5:52 PM
More Hate In '08!!!

i am someone who made a really positive comment and i am totally unaffiliated with pitchfork. the tv site is fucking sweet and people don't need to be so cynical about it. i don't see what you could have negative to say about it. i haven't listened to almost all of the bands on the first week of videos and found those concerts and footage to be really cool. awesome sound quality/picture and it loads quickly on my shitty wireless. i think it's cool also that they are giving exposure to more under the radar bands (place to bury strangers, jay reatard ect) instead of making like obvious choices of huge bands. the thing on the roof and in the basement was really cool. i feel like ted leo would be perfect for the roof show.
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 6:16 PM
I think pitchfork.tv is absolutley wonderful. Its even better hooked up to the HDTV like 353 said.
And no I don't work for pitchfork. I also think that most of their albums that they love are horrible. I maybe only liked 9 songs out of their top 100 singles 2007 list.

^ well played

I think the PTV site is great, though I found the opening Radiohead live performance to be the least interesting thing on there so far.
It wasn't a bad performance, it just had no context. The basement performance from Liars had interviews, and some setup as to what was going on. The Radiohead thing was jarring as suddenly we're in a room and radiohead are playing.
Videos have been pretty decent choices so far. The pixies doc was a nice treat.
Place to Bury Strangers was great, but then again...I live in NYC. Thermals on the roof i'm still undecided on. Again, it lacked much context.
Overall, i think it's a really cool idea that is being executed pretty well. Props for the interface being easier than VBS's (though the videos are difficult to browse).

id like to see videos of some of their writers being tortured
Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2008 11:34 PM
"It wasn't a bad performance, it just had no context. "
Context!!! Here is the plot: bands playing music. So when you go at a concert, the band always ends-up being out of context?
Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2008 6:26 AM
I like it, but I've expected more. Interviews maybe?
Totally off topic I discovered a very cool website focused on Latin Alternative music:
