Polvo is one of the greatest bands of the 90s. Check out their masterpieces- Celebrate the New Dark Age and Today's Active Lifestyles.

Man, I saw Polvo and Trumans Water in Orlando way back in 1994. I was SO STONED and it was such a GOOD SHOW. Believe or not, Shaq was in the audience, back when he played for the Magic.

exploded drawing dudes...

Anon 12:21 - Polvo was an amazing indie band from the mid-90's, back when you were listening to super shitty music that you're now totally ashamed of and therefore need to display an extremely high level of hipster/douchebaggery to compensate for.
Also, they were on Merge.

so fucking excited for this!

That must have been a figment of your stoned imagination, Old timer. Shaq at a Polvo/Trumnan's Water show? Was he rockin' out?
Fractured (Like Backboards and Chandeliers).

wanna hear this for ridiculous...in may...nightmarchers at mercury lounge on wed, polvo in DC on friday, nightmarchers/obits in baltimore on sat, then negative approach at southpaw the following wed and unsane at luna lounge on thur.
jeez...gonna be a crazy week for me.

Anon 2:07, sounds like a trip into the way back machine for you. Replace those NM/Obits shows with the RFTC/DLJ and you'd be in some sort of off-kilter time machine.

He was really there, seriously, with an entourage in the back tables. He must have been thinking, "Damn, what is it with this white-people music?" He then went on to make his second rap album, Shaq-Fu, later that year. (No guest appearances from the angular guitar of Ash Bowie.)
Posted by Old timer | April 17, 2008 3:24 PM
The album Shaq-Fu was clearly influenced by Polvo. What with all those starts and stops and time changes, I thought it was a Polvo tribute record. But no, it was merely a tip of Shaq's purple velvet bowler hat to this great band.

"can you buy tickets at bowery ballroom so I dont have to pay for all the lame fees."
You can buy them at the Mercury Lounge from 12-7pm.

Polvo were also on Kitchen Puff and Jesus Christ, not to mention the split 7"s that they did. You guys only know Merge b/c of Arcade Fire. Don't expose the shallowness of your record collections by preaching to the choir.

The reason I know Merge is because of Superchunk thank you very much.

Case in mother fucking point.

Anyone see Polvo in Coney Island YEARS and YEARS ago? The old location of the freakshow used to be the SPOT for cool shows. I remember them hanging out & playing basketball on the boardwalk.
Also saw NNCK/Borbetomagus/Circle X there...

I can vouch for Old Timer. I was at that particular show too and indeed Shaq did show up. It was pretty surreal to say the least. And Polvo were amazing, of course. KAZAAM!

Polvo was really fucking amazing at Bowery Ballroom a few weeks ago. Perfect show!
