Odd charges on my credit card bills. Unexplainable website visits. I must admit, I do have a secret love.
They are Rancid, punk godfathers to Hot Topic'ers and old faves to old school Op. Ivy fans like me. Tim, Matt, Lars and Brandon (Steineckert, original drummer Brett Reed departed the band in 2006) are currently working on a new album with Brett Gurewitz (of Bad Religion/Pres of Epitaph Records fame) that will come out later in the year. Their first in five years since 2003's Indestructible, it also marks the return of Brett Gurewitz to the boards for Rancid, previously producing Rancid (2000) and their near classic Let's Go.
Presumably to road test some of that new material, Rancid has scheduled a few shows, including a 5 night stay at the Fillmore @ Irving Plaza from 8/13 - 8/17. Ticket info currently unavailable.

Hmm how quickly things change. These days it is seeming like a relief when Live Nation gets their hands on a band instead of Bowery Presents. How much nicer is the idea that this is a 5 night run at Irving instead of 2 nights at Terminal Crap?
These shows should be sick and immediately brought up memories of the show I saw them play at Coney Island High. Now that was something.

This was the band that got me into punk rock. Even though I don't listen to them too much anymore, the B.B. Kings shows were a blast and these are gonna rule too.

the 1995 show at the wetlands was awesome. So many kids showed up to the show! that was a wonderful afternoon and a great show. They were so young and raw.
