i thought santagold was mia's doppelganger?

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2008 1:38 PM

for the love of all that is good, are you effin kidding me? that performance is shite personified. seriously WTF?! i recall mia's early performances were pretty weak too, but this sets a whole new bar for Suck City USA. so happy to see she's getting all this hype. sigh...

who's rose?

Urgh!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2008 4:53 PM

she used to write for Ashlee Simpson. go figure.

I still don't get the comparison between her and MIA?? I see that they both like neon colored clothing, they live in Brooklyn and are not white hipsters.... but musically... they're NOTHING alike.
Santogold sounds more like a ripoff of Tegan and Sara than MIA.

you guys are a bunch of jerks...seriously. Santogold is amazing and quite refreshing. you're always saying everyone is a ripoff and "too produced"...please, get over it! she is one of the most humble and true artists that has made it today, not to mention such a beautiful woman, WOW!

by the way, she and M.I.A. have a lot of respect for each other, why should you give a s**t if they have a similar quality? (which i don't see AT ALL), YOU LOVE IT, STOP DENYING IT!!!!!!

Love for Santo and BKVegan!

HELL YEAH! Santi rules.. she is a great singer, her music rocks and she is the cutest (and nicest) thing in the world... and she totally kicked as in this performance...

definitely lotsa love for Santogold

The record is great BUT....why doesn't she just perform it live instead of having a DJ? The album could easy be performed with real instruments and it would sound 10x better that way. Playing it off a lap top just doesn't work for me.

This performance sounds awful.

And I can't get over the fact that this chick's voice sounds exactly like Musical Youth ("Pass the Dutchie").

oh no santogold! wow. im disappointed. wow. no stage presence. wow. why that song as your single? wow. i guess i won't wait for hours in line at summer stage to see you. wow. sadface.

p.s. your album is great though.

i too wish she would perform with a live band, but she said in an interview recently that it's a budgetary thing for now, and in the future she will.

this was a pretty awful performance, but it was probably mostly a flook. bad sound, bad day, etc.

this is way better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBYY5LThRNA

i saw her live at coachella and she was AMAZING. sooooo cute and down to earth. lots of stage presence. sometimes talk shows don't do justice, guys.
