She and Him @ Webster Hall

1. First She & Him announced 1 NYC show @ Hiro Ballroom

2. Then they announced a 2nd show @ Hiro

3. Then they cancelled Monday's show @ Hiro leaving 1 again. The reason was because Zooey was sick and lost her voice.

4. Then they moved Tuesday's show to Webster Hall and let everyone who also bought ticket to Monday in (pictures from that show here)

Pictures and stuff from Noise Pop are HERE. SXSW HERE.

They do it again tonight at NYU (April 23) (with Thao Nguyen). More pictures from Webster Hall below...

if she wasn't hot/famous I hardly doubt people would "love" this show so much

there's them on conan

exactly! m. ward tries to get away with real solo shows and can't pull off the fake ones like conor does.

"if she wasn't hot/famous I hardly doubt people would "love" this show so much"

I agree that as many people would not show up if she was not "hot/famous" and if M. Ward already did not have many fans, but whoever did would still love the show as it was a fantastic one.

I cannot recall if M. Ward's Town Hall show last year was completely sold out, but it looked like a full house.

m.wards town hall show was very much sold out.

Not only was M Ward's town hall show sold out, it was effing amazing.

went to this show having not listened to the album and solely based on being a fan of M. Ward. Her songs reminded me a bit of some selections from Ward's Transistor Radio. I could take or leave most of them -- nothing really grabbed me. But, it was nice to see M. Ward showing off his guitar playing. He had a few really great solos and the band was generally tight. Zooey sounded best when seated at the piano and not directly facing the crowd, but otherwise appeared to be extremely nervous. She clearly can sing and hopefully will be a little less restrained as she becomes more comfortable on stage. Wouldn't mind the cutesy-factor being dialed down a few notches either. Actress or not, she definitely demonstrated a lot more musical talent than I've seen from more experienced musicians.

Overall though, the pairing of the two is a perfect fit. Also, holy digital cameras batman! Never seen so many of em in Webster before.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 12:36 PM

they were scheduled to go on at 9, didn't get on until around 9:20-9:30.

"Not only was M Ward's town hall show sold out, it was effing amazing."

That is almost an understatement

That record blows and I'm sure the live show wasn't any better. There's nothing original or interesting about She & Him. I really like M. Ward, but I hate this.

Posted by TWB | April 23, 2008 12:50 PM

zooey is gorgeous.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 12:51 PM

I don't understand how Zooey can lose her voice but still be able to sing. She wasn't able to speak to the audience. It made me wonder if she was lip syncing. How can you lose your voice/not be able to speak, but be able to sing?

Posted by JM | April 23, 2008 1:47 PM

with all this talk of mr. ward, i have to believe his shows are nothing short of the second coming of jezus. his records bore the living tears out of me, but whatever. and yeah, saying zooey is gorgeous is a terrible understatement.
