Takka Takka @ Pianos (Rock 'n' ROFL), NYC - pics
photos by Ryan Muir

I'm sorry if I'm gushing, but I really still feel good from the show last night (March 31, 2008). First the great comedy. Then Bell. And then a whole new Takka Takka. I always liked Takka, but now they're really great. I'll admit that opinions I heard of Bell ranged in that Antony/Joanna Newsom/Bjork-love-her-or-hate-her kind of way, but everyone I talked to last night really seemed to like Takka Takka. Their new songs (off their now-finished new album) are great, their show is tight and fun, and as you can see from the pictures, Gabe (the frontman) gets in this zone on stage which is a little bit fascinating to watch. More pictures below....

Saw them at some random casual event 2 years ago. Wasn't impressed at all, but maybe they've gotten better since then...d

Takka Takka said they were going to release a couple new tracks on their website, but I can't find them. Any ideas anyone?

yeah the new songs last night were quite brilliant. takka takka have stepped it up. gabe was really nice and gave me his e-mail so that he could send me a link to the new songs. the new album is gonna really take off i think. and there's nothing wrong with gushing BV, the free newcastles and kronenbourgs definitely made the night "buzz"worthy and fun. keep on keeping on...

The new stuff sounded more Nuh Uh than Takka Takka. Which is a very good thing.

I missed the show last night, but I saw them at SXSW and it was a highlight of the festival. Plus, the guitarist looks like a model.
