The Warlocks & The Black Angels - 2008 Tour Dates

The Warlocks
Warlocks

The Warlocks will begin with some intimate local shows in their hometown of LA. After that The Warlocks and The Black Angels will join forces for a massive North American tour this summer. The psychedelic troubadours of the West and the drone minstrels of the South are preparing to seduce listeners with their turn on, tune in, and drop out aesthetic.

Rounding out the Warlock's busy schedule will be a seven date headlining tour in Australia.

And finally... The Warlocks in conjunction with Tee Pee & Birdman Records plan to release a limited edition 12" this Summer titled " The Warlocks Experimental Vol. 1:
Burn Out Music". The album comprises the experimental home recordings of Bobby Hecksher's. A psychedelic noise/drone out concept with no vocals.

The Black Angels have a great new album out too. Tickets are on sale for a show at Southpaw on June 28th. They're both playing Merciry Lounge too. All dates below....

are the warlocks infrequent with the fact that the Grateful Dead for a long time were called "the Warlocks" and released stuff under that moniker?

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2008 12:45 PM

Grateful Dead did not use that name for long, but it's still dumb for a new band to reuse the name. Can't they be more creative?

jesus who cares all of the dead are near dead or dead anyway, the warlocks have been around awhile. anybody with half a brain would know this.

The dead suck, Warlocks dont.

The Velvet Underground were once known as The Warlocks, too.

I saw the modern Warlocks once. Every song sounded like Sprit In The Sky... And almost everything The Grateful Dead did in 1968 (back when they were a fucked up electric RnB band) kills everything in these dope-addled wannabees' entire catalog. You snarky dicks...

Oh: The Black Angels are DOPE!

Two drummers: no waiting.

A word of advice... try not to embarrass yourself by posting comments like, "every song sounds like spirit in the sky" -- it only shows your musical ineptitude.

The Warlocks are a great band who have experiemented with various styles and sounds, and have remained relevant for many years and several records.

The Black Angels are also an incredible band... and they've been fans of the Warlocks for years, long before they, themselves entered the scene. Their mutual admiration for one another is what brought about this tour.

As for the Grateful Dead... well, apples and oranges, my friend. This article isn't about them. Nobody cares who-was-called-what before they commercialized themselves (unless its just for a fun trivia game). Plenty of bands have had prior names, but present-day Warlocks are the only ones who officially took ownership of the name.

Too bad TBA's got rid of the sexy keyboardist.

I just found out that the shows marked with "The Warlocks Headline" ACTUALLY means The Warlocks ONLY.

grr

woah...chill yall...

i have been a deadhead for awhile now...
and gave up that obsession when the 90s ended...
they filled a void for 30 plus years and kept all of
us connected and happy for a long time...let it be what it was..

now...i have been able to experience THE BLACK ANGELS for the first time on may 29 at the granada here in dallas...

omg...i have been to MANY MANY shows in my day...yet not one band has every been able to make my heart pound and my mind as colorful and happy as this band...

i suggest we just get on with the business of living here and now and i am eternally grateful for the BLACK ANGELS presence and
god given psychedelically inspired and traditionally proven
sound...

texas psych...there is nothing as good...

stay serene and sober...and i dare ya to see em NOT under the influence...if you can handle it...

peace, adam
