Spring is finally (maybe?) here in New York - up to a whopping 65 degrees on Tuesday! Warm weather makes me want to do nothing more than go out and get down. This week there is no shortage of opportunities to do so:

Tonight (April 3) Moby continues with the latest in his series of monthly Degenerates parties. This time he brings back New York's own Tommie Sunshine who was fantastic at the November 15th Degenerates party. Croft over at Get Weird Turn Pro (an ace UK-based music blog) recently posted a bunch of rare Tommy Sunshine tunes, sent to him by the man himself. Have a listen. Moby also graces New York with the third Ed Banger to come to town in the past month, DJ Mehdi.

Tracklist (tracks: 1-5 mixed by DJ Mehdi , tracks 6-10 mixed by Feadz, and tracks 11-15 mixed by Busy P):
01 Steed Lord - Dirty Mutha (DJ Mehdi Dirty Remix)
02 Ben Mono Feat Killa Kella - Blind Sweep
03 Puzique - Don't Go
04 Bumblebeez - Dr. Love (Crookers Remix)
05 Surkin - White Knight
06 Kazey & Bulldog - Give It Up
07 High Powered Boys - Hoes Get Down
08 Bobmo - Rock The
09 Feadz - Numanoid
10 Armand Van Helden - J'Taime (Switch Remix/Ed Banger Edit)
11 DSL - Invaders (Busy P Remix)
12 Justice - D.A.N.C.E. (Spank Rock & Mos Def Remix)
13 Das Pop - Fool For Love (SebastiAn Remix)
14 Smith N Hack - Space Warrior
15 Cool Kids - I Rock
Download the whole mix on the top of this post.

I really recommend going to this party at Hiro Ballroom. I've been to most of them so far and each time is better than the last. Moby plays a great mix of new stuff and old school tracks you didn't know you wanted to hear again. The guest deejays he chooses have everyone losing it by the time the night is over. RSVP here for $10 reduced list or buy an advanced ticket for $5.

Moby's new dance album 'Last Night' was released in the US on Tuesday (via Mute). Listen to a sampler at his MySpace.

You can learn a lot about the concept of the record, and what went into making it from Moby and the collaborators in this video:

And here's the video of his perormance on Conan the other night....

Some photos of Moby playing SXSW with Justice, OVER HERE, and less dancy ones from SXSW, RIGHT HERE.

Moby also recently made an appearance at Terminal 5, and another one at St Ann's. You know how he loves his benefits.

Help him find a buyer for his house.

Part 2 of the Week in Dance (with Friday and Saturday events) coming soon.

You know it's Spring when the three-card monte players are out taking the tourists and HS kids' money.

the week in Dance???
this is soo whack..........
should be the week in dance that for anyone who is not into dance music in NYC..............
this is like promotional dance parties for advertising execs and suckers

Matthew Dear, Freq Nasty, Optimo, etc... and you're splooging over Moby? Wow. Weak in Dance, more like it.

Agreed with above comments. Those GBH parties epitomize many of the problems with the dance music scene in NYC. Long lines, discerning door, uninspired music & bottle service taboot!

Above reco's and this ~~>

provide real alternatives.

"Matthew Dear, Freq Nasty, Optimo, etc... and you're splooging over Moby? "

you see the "part 1" part? Part 2 is Friday and Saturday. This is just Thursday.

I'm not an advertising exec or sucker and I'll be at Hiro Ballroom tonight

with my flask

DJ Mehdi is where its at

These critics are ridiculous.

If you want some potentially lame dance events for tonight, go here:

Medhi is awesome. Really looking forward to this.

Moby is like an ambassador of classic 90s house music. The good kind. The kind you can be proud of. Have you ever seen him spin? No? Then shut up. Everyone in the room always thoroughly enjoys it.

This isn't where everyone thrives on baseless negativity competitions in the comments. This is a place for music lovers.

4:59... suggest something better to do tonight.

The flask is always a must at Hiro...

Dear 4.59, 5.24 & 5.32.

Have you even been to a Degenerates party? They are quite the opposite of what you describe. DJ Mehdi is the man, and coupled with Moby and Tommie Sunshine this is bound to be a top party of the year. You should be on your knees thankful we can get talent like this for $5. $5 f'in dollars.

And to whomever slammed GBH - man what are you talking about? I am pretty sure they have simplified the "getting in the door" policy. It's called buy a ticket, and you get in.

Matthew Dear and Optimo are cool too, and so is the Dave Bruno party - but those are Fri & Sat. The post clearly says Part 1 for Thurs. Yall are silly.
