Tim Minchin - a few NYC shows left, videos
by Klaus Kinski
Australian comedic phenomenon Tim Minchin has been doing 90-minute shows at the New World Stages in NYC since March 3rd I'm covered in blood and bruises from kicking myself for not mentioning this earlier. I saw a brief Tim Minchin performance once at the UCB Theater and I almost fell out of my chair. Not only was his material and his execution among the most brilliant I've ever seen, but his skills at the piano were astounding. And the way he integrates the two blew my mind wide open. I left the show wanting much more, yet I never managed to get it together to catch one of his solo shows at Ars Nova he was doing at the time. Luckily, he's got shows happening at the World Stages until Saturday April 12th and I strongly urge anyone with the means to catch one of these shows. Tickets are $25, $40, $50 and totally worth every penny. Video and more details below....

He's OK. Not great, not terrible. But OK.

Saw this show in March: Tim is funny, clever and musically brilliant.

I've seen Minchin before, but never the full show until last Friday and will agree with Klaus (happy birthday, btw!) that he is pretty amazing at what he does. You really have to experience him live to appreciate that. My review of his New World Stages show is here: http://thecomicscomic.typepad.com/thecomicscomic/2008/04/review-tim-minc.html

I'm so bummed that I only found out about this guy AFTER he was in the U.S. Apparently he's got an extensive tour around the UK this fall though - with brand-new material!
