LUPEN CROOK is a musician from the Medway town of Chatham. In London he became well-known for his mesmerizing songs, twisted stories, and enthralling live performances. His first album, Accidents Occur Whilst Sleeping, was released on the young Tap 'n' Tin label. After achieving recognition as a solo artist, Lupen officially teamed up with the Murderbirds in 2006. Since then, the live shows have become even louder and more engaging.
In February 2008, Lupen Crook & the Murderbirds released another full album, Iscariot the Ladder. During the month of April, Lupen Crook, Tom Langridge, and Bob Langridge (of the Murderbirds) will be playing shows together around New York City. This is America's very first peek at a unique and exciting British band.

I honestly don't know how Other Music pulls off in stores - DJ ones or performance ones. Place holds like 10 people.

Chris Bathgate plays with Fred Thomas at the Knit tonight... mad buzz at SXSW this year, just got back from Europe. RIYL Will Oldham, Bon Iver, etc.
Also on the bill is Drunken Barn Dance, which is Scott Sellwood of Saturday Looks Good to Me's other project.
Not even coincidentally, it is both Chris' and Scott's birthdays today!
Come out and hit the (ex-)Michigan indie-fauxlk scene hard!

only a few dozen people showed up to the national and grizzly bear show at columbia. not sure why they didn't open it to a general sale.

then we had drastically different experiences, anon 3:20. and why would we have wanted the general public at our private show?
