WE'RE GONNA START IT WITH A POSITIVE JAM!

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:12 PM

panther blows. saw them in portland last month. 6 years too late on the electroclash thing, and not adding anything new to the genre either.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:14 PM

What show is that picture from? What is everyone looking at?

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:14 PM

Why can't I convince myself to care about Ronnie Spector?

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:16 PM

"What show is that picture from? What is everyone looking at?"

Dan Deacon

and I think it was when he told everyone to wave at the people in the back.

"(Headliner TBA)"

Fiasco

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:18 PM

I think it's from the Dan Deacon show. He told everyone to look at the Helio tent or something like that.

Posted by Angela | May 28, 2008 3:18 PM

let this be my annual reminder that we can all be something bigger

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:18 PM

pretty crummy lineup (so far), but tough to complain about something for free.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:29 PM

panther is awesome. don't be a dickhead. they rocked it at the knit in march.

on a more practical note: why do people like black mother super rainbow, and why do they play so often? last year at the seaport, last week with subtle - isn't there such a thing as oversatuation?

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:32 PM

of course it's the breeders... who else would it be? they are confirmed for a july pool parties show, and all of the other headlining july dates are set.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:33 PM

I will so drive cross-country to New York if No Age appear on a pool party bill. That Black Lips Deerhunter one looks pretty good

Posted by Nilina | May 28, 2008 3:33 PM

whatever, i like the line up. bring on the bitching.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:34 PM

no Breeders!?!?!

Posted by butternuts | May 28, 2008 3:34 PM

There are so many shows I want to see. This is great news.

Posted by Max Silvestri | May 28, 2008 3:35 PM

All you haters need to chill and get ready for summertime. Those pool parties are as fun as a barrel of monkeys, no matter what the band is. Beer, dodgeball, slip-n-slide, gettin' a tan, dancing, and eye candy. Relaaaaax. It's only Brooklyn, and I can't wait!

Posted by j-dog | May 28, 2008 3:36 PM

aug 3 looks like FUN

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:37 PM

i don't know what everyone's damage is (then again, i'm not surprised) but this line up is pretty awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:38 PM

j-dog is so right.
fuck yeah, aesop rock.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:40 PM

They have been announcing the dates for the past two weeks on the promoters revamped website. They will probably announce the remaining shows and headliners TBA too.

www.jellynyc.com

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:42 PM

ooh TBA is playing with special guests and headliner!

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:45 PM

are there ever any surprises w/ these line-ups? i feel saturated w/ free Deerhunter shows.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:48 PM

"Why can't I convince myself to care about Ronnie Spector?"

Because you're a fucking douche?

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:54 PM

Some of you folks are the craziest assholes in the world. THESE ARE FREE SHOWS!!! Free Liars show, free Black Lips show, free, MGMT show. Most of us have to BUY TICKETS to these shows. You get them for free, and still you complain.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 3:58 PM

August 10 looks FUN!

Posted by BriGuy | May 28, 2008 3:58 PM

They think she's so cute when she calls it dyer maker.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:01 PM

Training my volleyball serve all winter, ready to... SLAM! let the boyz be boyz!

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:05 PM

J RODDY AND THE MOTHERFUCKIN BUSINESS!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:08 PM

yeah, i agree. i'm psyched for liars, fuck buttons, deerhunter and aesop, but there's a lot that i'm pretty meh about. STILL, how on earth can people complain. it's fucking free so if you don't wanna see, keep your ass at home. it's pretty fucking easy math, not fuzzy at all.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:12 PM

"pretty crummy lineup (so far), but tough to complain about something for free."

yet you posted a complaint. good work.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:13 PM

@anon 3:32 "on a more practical note: why do people like black mother super rainbow, and why do they play so often? last year at the seaport, last week with subtle - isn't there such a thing as oversatuation?"

seriously? you mention 2 shows within a year and you call that oversaturation. umm... what about the 5 Black Lips area shows before this one.

and why do they like BMSR? well... they're pretty fucking good. that's why.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:15 PM

RICK DERRINGER!

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:19 PM

I really don't want to have to sit through Matt and Kim to see The Breeders.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:25 PM

The Whip seem to think the Breeders will be headlining the July 13th.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:29 PM

BOZ SCAGGS!

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:31 PM

come on Paul and Ringo...you can do it!!! George and John were the slackers in the band anyway. just think about it...Beatles + Brooklyn 2008!

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:33 PM

only in NY would people complain about free awesome concerts.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:44 PM

I went there on business

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:47 PM

IT'S FREE MORONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 4:57 PM

anyone know how much these shows cost?

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 5:10 PM

Aug 10

vampire weekend
the cool kids

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 5:12 PM

dunno why they don't just announce the breeders on 7/13. the webster show is sold out so its not taking away from sales there?! regardless 7/13 will packed.

question, which pool show is going to have the biggest crowd. im guessing the breeders one or maybe one of the unannounced ones?

Posted by tanya donnelly | May 28, 2008 5:19 PM

Black Lips AND Deerhunter on the same bill at the Pool??????? Free??????? I am sure the promoters are happy the ten or so people who complained on here won't be there. They are probably gonna need all the space they can get in there. What is the big deal? The shows are free, the lineup is good, and it's in Brooklyn. This is the best summer party. It's too bad it's the last year.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 5:37 PM

Ronnie Spector rules. Anyone The Ramones claim as their number one influence is cool with me.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 5:39 PM

oh man i see me

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 5:55 PM

TING TINGS!

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 5:56 PM

This lineup is fine, my problem is that it could have easily have been last years lineup. Seems like things are slowing down...

Posted by BkpRezIDENT | May 28, 2008 6:00 PM

SO for a first timer to McCarren pool looking to catch Liars from the first row (of people)....how exactly does this work

Posted by xcited | May 28, 2008 6:19 PM

Get there early! Especially for that one because Team Robespierre is opening act.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 6:20 PM

oh wow. Well, we CAN complain about this: the other free concert in New York (summerstage) has A-Trak, Diplo, and Santogold on the same fucking date as Liars.

Posted by xcited | May 28, 2008 6:36 PM

Free shows suck, I hate life. Please kill me now.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 6:51 PM

hey, can someone tell me how much these shows cost? i'm really going to be mad if they're free.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 7:03 PM

booooor-ing.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 7:33 PM

the one I'm most excited about is definitely either July 20th Liars, Fuck Buttons, and Team Robespierre or August 3rd Deerhunter, Black Lips and King Khan. I'm not disappointed at all about this lineup. Keep in mind August 10th and August 24th haven't been announced yet and they could potentially be incredible.

Posted by Howard P. Flochango | May 28, 2008 8:05 PM

I actually would prefer if the shows were non-free (but cheap). Too many scenesters that do not care about the music show up to free shows. Real fans would be for a show.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 9:05 PM

well iiiii like them. the hot dogs they sell are real good too.

Posted by sarah | May 28, 2008 11:03 PM

Saw Ronnie Spector about a decade ago at Coney Island High - great singer, great songs.

Saw Ronnie Spector 2-3 summers ago on Rockefeller Park lawn - bland band, weaker voice, lesser effort.

Hard to imagine that she's getting any better. Still, looks like a show for 'older' hipsters...

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2008 1:20 AM

liars is interesting to listen to but boring to watch. they're not exactly what i could call daytime fare either. give me something with a little bounce

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2008 1:30 AM

Do you think the security will let me wear my stadium pal?

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2008 2:02 AM

make sure you bring lots of money on those days you trustfund rejects

i'll bring my best friends-- rob & steel

Posted by god below | May 29, 2008 3:37 AM

Don't forget the nip n' slide! True, sometimes it's the tip n' slide, which isn't as cool, but then it's back to the nip n' slide!

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2008 9:31 AM

LIARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2008 9:36 AM

yo this shit is mad expensive..

Posted by sam | May 29, 2008 10:14 AM

what time do the ting tings cancel?

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2008 10:19 AM

If they canceled I'd be pissed.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2008 12:45 PM

that's ok, I was desperate too. I'm really getting sick of this interview.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2008 12:54 PM

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2008 2:06 PM

poop.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2008 2:17 PM

despite what you fuckers say, i think this a sweet lineup.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2008 8:21 PM

i love Black Moth Super Rainbow more than words can explain actually. I think maybe mgmt should be opening for them. Although I do like MGMT as well.

Posted by Mandy | May 30, 2008 12:34 PM

oh and i guess i'll get to see matt & kim afterall since siren was such a bust last year with the schedule. i did however see the black lips at siren last year and now that i fully appreciate their latest album i will enjoy them more than i did the first time.

Posted by Mandy | May 30, 2008 12:37 PM

This lineup is Awesome!!!! Are you kidding!!! You are such winey, spoiled, little rich kids who should have stayed in the east village, losers

Posted by Anonymous | May 30, 2008 1:48 PM

July 6 Ronnie Spector and Rabbit Factory thingee. Yep. I always like when they do the these kind of days there. I never know who the hell is playing but I don't care. Women are friendlier at these shows too. They are usually dancing and not wasting so much energy trying to look aloof or bored.

Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2008 12:26 PM

Who books these shows. They might want to consider more local acts. I'm not complaining about the lineup. I just want in!

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 7:20 PM

are people posting comments on jellynyc asking for rsvp for a good reason?

Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2008 2:18 PM

Jesus, tired of seeing Deerhunter for free? What, there's too many other awesome bands playing for your pleasure at no cost? Life is hard, isn't it?

No wonder the rest of the Music Nation hates you people.
