Pretty cool. I've heard Beirut are a great band. I'll have to take a listen and see if I can make it to this show.

um, i think there's some free hipstery show at cake shop with people in matching colored tight pants and shirts who can't play their instruments. hopefully everyone will just go see that and allow some of us to get into this one.

I'm pretty sure I got the first ticket!! I saw Beirut's myspace bulletin earlier this afternoon and called the Music Hall at least twenty times and left messages for them to call me as soon as someone got in.

The crazy thing is I have known for awhile this is their last tour as "Beirut", after having just canceled their European tour. So I've been desperate for the past two weeks, trying to buy an airplane ticket out to the west coast. I was actually going to fork over $350 to fly out there to see them before they break up. THANK GOD they're playing here Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps- BV check your (jobs) email!!!!

Break up?

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2008 8:13 AM

i think he meant "break-up" , as in, he wants to see them before they ever break-up.

anyone have a setlist from this show?

Posted by krappable | May 19, 2008 12:11 AM

I don't know how this compared to past shows but I was really impressed. I enjoy them more live than on the albums. My girlfriend was surprised there was not more dancing but it was as I expected.

Also, the sound mix was almost perfect on the ground level, dead center, towards the back. This will probably be my new spot at MHoW shows.

I have seen Beirut quite a few times and tonight was pretty fucking tops! The new songs were fun and I look forward to their post-sabbatical return to NYC!

That was a borderline religious experience. So so great. And imminent breakup notwithstanding, the band members all seemed happy and groovy with each other. Worth the $20 ten times over.

one of the best shows i've ever been to.
