There are families (I mean adults with children) living in Williamsburg? That's not very hip.

well if your beth ditto fat is so hip

Posted by Anonymous | May 27, 2008 8:24 AM

thats because their parents are still back in the midwest, and everybody is obese out there

Wow. There is plenty of "wrong" in that last comment, grammatically speaking.

8:48, I take it you're referring to 8:24, not 8:46.

Where's Elmer Fudd when you need him?

Everyone knows that Nick Zedd is the mastermind of Williamsburg and Live Journal. Even his number one fan took this photo and wandered around hoping to see him. He jerks.

As much as a lot of Williamsburg 20-somethings have kids, the "hipster" element of that neighborhood probably has minimal effect on the childhood obesity rate of that neighborhood, which is mostly likely based on the fat kids of the people who've lived in the neighborhoods for the last thirty years.

Jesus, I gotta stop commenting without rereading my posts. Two too many 'neighborhoods'.

Posted by Anonymouse | May 27, 2008 11:08 AM

live it up while you're still skinny, kids!

Uh oh, there go my property values... Couldn't this be easily solved if the real estate agencies and USPS would just re-zone the neighborhoods once and for all? Any address with chubby hispanics would be considered Bushwick; and all addresses with skinny white folks can be 11211. Even if they're in Bed Stuy! Easy enough? Everyone wins! It would be much easier for the Bushwick folks to get neighborhood assistance grants and all that jazz, without the yuppies messing up their demographics, while all the white people get to be real honest to goodness Sillyburgers.

Posted by Anonymous | May 27, 2008 12:46 PM

Not if it's Williamsburg, Virginia

Posted by Anonymous | May 27, 2008 12:50 PM

"8:48, I take it you're referring to 8:24, not 8:46."

8:57 it applies to both

i was talking to a friend that grew up in new york. and his parents grew up in new york. and i asked what he thought of williamsburg and the high costs of living in the neighborhood.

he said to me, "williamsburg? that's not the williamsburg i know. the williamsburg that people are talking about on the L was this yucky area that nobody went to when i was growing up. that area didn't even have a name. williamsburg was far south of that -- the immigrant enclaves. the place where the hipsters go, however, wasn't really williamsburg until very recently."

Obesity is affecting the entire country, not only Williamsburg. It doesn't seem fair to me to say that people living here have the chance to be obese. The fact that this is true is just a coincidence.

These guys round because they're too hip to be square.
