DOWNLOAD: Cut Copy - Hearts on Fire (Joakim Remix) (MP3)

Cut Copy played two NYC shows this week. One was at Studio B with the Black Kids who they're touring with, and one was without the Black Kids last night at Bowery Ballroom (May 14, 2008).

Cut Copy = Good hair, good looks, good and subtle use of unlikely influences (Fleetwood Mac, ELO, etc.), good tunes = Great, great times. [For Your Pleasure]
The new Cut Copy album Ghost Colours (which the Guardian says could be the album of the year) was produced by Tim Goldsworthy (one half of DFA Records). Tim G. and and Tim Sweeney are a DJ team collectively known as T&T, and they also opened for Cut Copy at the Bowery show. More pictures from that show (which Showtrotta is sure to talk more about later), below....

The Mobius Band also played both NYC shows.

I was pretty impressed w/ Cut Copy. Didn't know what to expect but they were real solid. The crowd was really into it...especially the freakishly tall Billyburg hipsters. Long limbs be flying everywhere.

Bao...you are the SHIT! The photos above are almost all framable. You just keep getting better and better! That 3D glasses shot is your coup d' grace(sp?)!

i really am in shock at how good this album is, bright like neon was good, but this is just amazing. anybody who does not get urges to move when listening to it must be dead.

I kept asking the people around me, "You don't actually like this, do you?" Most seemed really into it except the few who realized they were LIPSYNCHING! I am sorry if I offend someone but, "How gay is that?" The album features tight production value and some catchy hooks but, How can you dig this stuff? Come on people...

Posted by osmutantes | May 15, 2008 10:21 PM

Actually osmutantes, you have offended me. Not by disliking Cut Copy (I love the records but wasn't into them at Studio B), but by being homophobic.

Also, I can't believe you were bugging strangers about ACTUALLY LIKING THE BAND THEY CAME TO SEE. How straight is that?

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2008 9:11 AM

Osmutantes, if you're the douchebag (sorry feminists) that asked me how I like Cut Copy, and then proceeded to slighly whine about how awesome the Neil Diamond Secret Show was in comparison - you go to hell - you go to hell and you die.

"whine about how awesome the Neil Diamond Secret Show was in comparison"

ha!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2008 12:58 PM

CUT COPY was LIPSYNCHING you dummies. And no I wasn't saying anything about Neil's secret show, though I really did hear someone compare it favorably to the birth of their first born child. Also, I am not homophobic and I take offense to the term douchebag. i am a feminist.

Posted by osmutantes | May 16, 2008 1:34 PM

hey anon1200,
why didn't you tell him to go to hell and die when he was right there in front of you? exactly.

pussy.

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2008 1:42 PM

osmutantes. debby downer.

sounds like you need a good dicking.

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2008 1:45 PM

"why didn't you tell him to go to hell and die when he was right there in front of you? pussy."

Because that would have created a distraction from the girl on my jock which, to me at least, was more important at the time, but good looking out, cunt.

Did I mention the band was LIPSYNCHING?!?! How come my dumb comments have sparked outrage but that hasn't?!?!

Posted by osmutantes | May 16, 2008 2:28 PM

Because you: "kept asking the people around me, "You don't actually like this, do you?"

That shite's no good, no good at all.

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2008 2:34 PM

Plus you said lipsynching is "gay" when there is nothing inherently gay about it, hence the homophobia.

I was at the show the other night and although I love Cut Copy's music, I was disappointed with their live performance. There was so much lip synching and recorded instuments sampling that it looked like they weren't doing much of anything. Thank God for the great light show!
