Daft Punk

ITM got the scoop from someone who would know - their manager for the past 12 years Busy P! Otherwise known as Pedro Winter - the owner of the notorious Ed Banger Records - he was chatting to inthemix about his label's brand new compilation Ed Rec Vol III when he dropped the bomb on Daft Punk's studio plans.

"The boys are in a studio in Paris at the moment," he revealed to ITM. "And I can't wait to listen to their new stuff! The good thing is that they are making music at the moment." While those creative juices are flowing again, it's not known at this stage when the new album might see the light of day. "They are slow, you know," Busy P laughed when asked. "They are taking their time, and they have a right."

Busy P also revealed that he recently decided to step down from the massive task of managing Daft Punk in order to allow him to focus all his energies on the Ed Banger record label. "I've stopped working with them really recently, because I want to focus and concentrate on Ed Banger and my artists, and my own career as Busy P." But after managing Daft Punk for 12 years, it's a safe bet that the relationship will continue to be a tight one. [In the Mix] (via) (and thx hiro)

what time does daft punk go on?

Posted by just getting it out of the way | May 28, 2008 6:53 PM

Thank you for getting it out of the way, I was also looking for...

"What day does the new Daft album get released?"

or

"When will Daft Punk pull a Radiohead?"

Oh, aren't we all hoping for the latter option.

Posted by madmang | May 28, 2008 6:59 PM

I hope they don't play Terminal 5 cause that place sucks.

Posted by getting over with it | May 28, 2008 7:30 PM

Ohhhh how I've been waiting for Daft Punk news on BV.....feels like 2007 all over again!

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 7:36 PM

as long as they're not collaborating with Kanye, i'm looking forward to it.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 7:38 PM

i heard bradford cox is going to be on the new album playing a sandwich he stole from beth ditto at terminal 5 (which sucks).

what time does vampire weekend go on?

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 7:58 PM

vampire weekend is playing the entire graceland album at the pool this summer for free.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 8:06 PM

vampire weekend are playing the entire one-trick pony album in its entirety as a warm-up for the graceland show & it's happening in my friend's bathtub, but pre-sale tickets already sold out. bowery presents totally sucks. but it's gonna be sweet. i'd totally hit it. and it'll be much better than terminal 5.

now i'm off to a silent rave in union square. later, assholes.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 8:56 PM

i stole all of johnny leather's bags and money while daft punk was playing. and matthew dear's hard drive. you're welcome.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2008 9:13 PM

I heard that after Vampire Weekend made it big that Daft Punk was inspired to make the next album a no holds barred sweater-pop jingle jangle record sans electronics. Can't wait for them to play the record front to back at Terminal 5 in 2022!

Oh I get it. You guys are taking comments that at one point or another were posted with relative frequency, and stringing them together in increasingly absurd number and degree, as a humorous statement on their original serious posting.

That's clever. You kids are clever.

that vampire weekend pool show is going to be AMAAAZING! it's already the best show of this trimester, behind beirut at MHOW and somebandyouneverheardof at the market hotel (before it got totally busted by the cops, but after some white kid's ipod was stolen). and the new daft punk album is AMAAAZING, b/c i can totally imagine what it will sound like before my roommate even blogs about its fake leak. AMAAAZING! and terminal 5 still sucks! i like it when bands play smaller venues, like my friend's bathtub, which has AMAAAZING acoustics, but totally hate when the overpriced pre-sale tickets sell out too fast. $25 is way too much, b/c according to the new york times, i can't even afford to stray from my williamsburg diet of cheap beer & pizza.

For Immediate Release:

Daft Punk names Emmett Lathrop "Doc" Brown as their new manager/mechanic/stylist.

Daft Punk commented on this exciting new arrangement, but normal humans are unable to comprehend their language.

"Doc" Brown is seemingly thrilled, however, and issued the following statement: "Great Scott!"

Posted by Marty McFly | May 29, 2008 2:09 PM

oh and there were skeletons and robotz. there was this rotating stage. does anyone remember what that song was called?

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2008 2:28 PM

daft punk was cool when "around the world" came out... ok. like what, 12 years ago. then, somehow, someway, they totally faked their way through a live performance at Coachella and totally fooled the E-tards on hand into thinking that the sick studio mix they were playing on the CDJ was a real live performance. until they played the same damn thing to many of the same e-tards at the Coliseum in L.A. Then EVERYBODY knew. And Busy P? HAHA. His career? If you call bad DJing a career then this guy will go far. His artists are sriking Christ poses while playing rock riffs with heavy bass distortion- how long will that shit be popular? oooops. It's over. Well, folks. time to get your old Portishead CD out and what ever happened to The Breeders? Ahhhhhhh. Now were talking. hehe

Posted by robato | May 29, 2008 3:32 PM

f off robato. roboto

Posted by Roboto | May 29, 2008 3:36 PM

dear robato,
good job posting the most snooze-worthy comment on the whole page. and yea, portishead and the breeders just came out with new albums.
