In case you don’t recognize him, that’s Ben Gibbard at the Sasquatch Festival in Washington this past Sunday (May 25). He is a member of the #1 band in America Death Cab For Cutie who are playing a show at McCarren Pool in Brooklyn on June 10th with Rogue Wave (who also played Sasquatch). After the McCarren show, the party continues at Music Hall of Williamsburg:

Death Cab For Cutie….
Ben Gibbard was especially talkative. The band played through “Where Soul Meets Body,” “I Will Follow You Into The Dark” “Crooked Teeth” the extended version of “I Will Possess Your Heart” and other sappy, indie poppy songs.
Gibbard dedicated “I Will Follow You Into The Dark” to The Cure.
“There are two reasons I wore all black today,” Gibbbard said, setting up the song.
“One is because I wear black on the outside because that’s how I feel on the inside. The other reason is because of The Cure.”He also later dedicated “The Sound of Settling” to Tegan and Sarah’s mother, who apparently tried to convince the Bremerton singer that “Juno” is a good movie. Gibbard said he couldn’t tell the twins’ mother he thought she was wrong, so instead he told the crowd of 22,000 after she left the festival. [seattlepi]
