Foals & The Ruby Suns @ Maxwell's, Hoboken, NJ - pics
photos by Leia Jospe
Foals

Foals (from the UK) finished up their North American touring last week with shows at Maxwell's in Hoboken (May 7th) and Union Hall in Brooklyn (May 8th).
The band will probably acknowledge that tonight was not their best effort. They were caught in traffic, resulting in a short sound check from a tired band at the end of their tour. They even mentioned how frustrated they were with how they are sounding, but they enjoyed Maxwell's Pina Coladas. [Music Snobbery]Both shows were with their Sub Pop labelmate The Ruby Suns (from New Zealand).
I'm not sure how to describe their sound, I guess I can say its easy listening. Lots of cool percussion and sounds. I like a few songs, well more like all of them. [Randomnights's Weblog]Foals also played a show at Bowery Ballroom a couple of weeks earlier (that Leia was also at). More of Leia's pictures from the Maxwell's show below....

Both bands will be back in July to play the Sub Pop Festival with the Vaselines, and The Ruby Suns are also playing Pitchfork.
Leia Jospe now holds the world record for most number of Foals shows photographed.

They were pretty god awful at Maxwell's, plus it didn't help that they went on late as hell...

Why does the singer look like a personal trainer who got lost on his way to a Rye Coalition show?

Was regretting not going, but now less so. Hopefully next time they play NY/NJ they'll be less tired, frustrated etc.

They were a little off that night but despite the tech problems, they still sounded amazing. It was kind of upsetting to see them get so upset over it though.
