Between this and GTA4, it's been a good week for violence.
Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2008 7:44 PM
youth wrecking shit how original:(
Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2008 9:10 PM
i kept hoping someone would catch those kids and beat the shit out of them. what a bunch of dicks! does this video have a point? aside from violence being the ultra coolest thing ever?
Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2008 11:04 PM
justice + violence = awesome
Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2008 11:21 PM
this video is fucking crazy!!! kinda clockwork orangish, brilliant. feels real enough.

This will be a great promotional video for Sarkozy to re-purpose and use when he's running for re-election on immigration reform! And personally, I can't wait until the culture coarsens completely and the only way to sell us zombies anything is with real, unsimulated murder and pornography. Wouldn't a ice cold Coca Cola go great with that cumshot? Oh no, looks like little Timmy's been disemboweled, good thing his mom bought the 2-Ply Bounty, the quicker picker upper. Should be within the next five years or so I'd say- as soon as today's toddlers with their taste for snuff films and anal penetration reach that critical tween marketing demographic.

Also, the music is boring and sounds just like the acid house they've been playing for the last 20 years. Why is this band so big all of a sudden? Is it a retro thing?
Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2008 11:52 PM
that's some "rakaille" shit. The notorious little thugs of France are called rakailles. They don't give a fuck and it's a major issue. Maybe it's glamorizing it but maybe it's also bringing it to light. In any case, I got a kick out of watching this. Fuck that DVNO shit compared to this.

Fucking Rakalles lol. I think if youre trying to read into this video youre not gonna go very far. Most likely they did it purely for the look. It goes well with the music, imo the attitude of most music from guys like justice and other ed banger/kitsune artists is just sort of "fuck you we dont care if it makes sense or pisses you off" This embodies that quite well.
Posted by A-Baum | May 2, 2008 12:59 AM
"Most likely they did it purely for the look" The look of young black kids terrorizing a city. If it is done "for the look," you have to at least think about what that look is and why one is trying to achieve it. The musicians obviously want their music associated with antisocial violent behavior. Why? Because that appeals to the people to whom their product is marketed. Why? Because that is how we market it to them? Why? Because that is what appeals to them? Why? ad infinitum... There is no such thing as a purely aesthetic decision in art, much less so in advertising.

But I thought they were a Christian band!!!
Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2008 10:41 AM
i think - and this is just my interpretation - the video is about the exploitation of violence, as evidenced by two things: 1, the kid from their own crew who gets his ass kicked when he tries to help the woman from her friends, and 2, that they kick out the camera and the cameraman at the end. it's a not so subtle way of them giving you what you deserve for watching them do this, even as they do it to not just those who absolutely don't deserve it, but their own. they are violence incarnate.
it's kind of brilliant and beautifully done. it's also (as evidenced by the reactions here) totally polarizing. in getting attention, it succeeds.
Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2008 11:05 AM
that was an utterly pointless video
Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2008 11:09 AM
I'd smash the radio too if D.A.N.C.E. plays one more time

I get the symbolism, and the message, and the artistic integrity, and all that. In the end, however, after watching this I am left with a real sadness and frankly, disgust, that there are "artists" out there highlighting this horse shit. I am amazed that people even consider this kind of stuff, but to each their own. My guess is that the whole thing was expertly produced and no one was caught off guard or injured here, but that's not the point. The point is that I hate Justice even more now, and I don't feel enlightened in the slightest.
Also, kudos to the post from 11:33.

great - now frat boys are going to get more annoying and violent
Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2008 11:31 AM
that video was intense and I hope most of that was staged.
Posted by get a duck and sit on it | May 2, 2008 11:44 AM
so DUMB. Justice is the worst.
Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2008 11:46 AM
Video reminds me of that french film Man Bites Dog. Seem to be a lot of disaffected youth running around Paris.
Posted by anonymous | May 2, 2008 11:48 AM
it is quite the opposite of polarizing, it's just lame.
the video is shot extremely well but after 30 seconds who cares.
Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2008 11:57 AM
well i was really interested and excited to see what justice was going to do with there first non animated video. The previous two videos for D.A.N.C.E., and DVNO blew me away, so i was expecting nothing less from this. Unfortunately this one felll short. Be honest love the song, but I think they could have done so much with the concept of stress. I don't know what they were trying to prove here, theres really no point to the video. Just a bunch of thugs runnin around causing "trouble". Youth rebelling, anarchy, is so played out. In fact, the whole music movement was based off that-Punk Rock. We get it, fuck the police...the queen is dead blah blah .The gang members wearing Justice cross was confusing to... These guys are the ultimate bible bangers. Isn't Justice for good. or at least, for the under-dog who is misrepresented, mistreated by anoppressive authority? I was waiting for something to tie together in the end, but nothin. But still in the end its the music that matters, and the music really conveys stress, and makes you want to break shit. Overall l loved the energy and style of the vid. I give it a total of ††† of ††††† cross scale. We'll see what they come up with next...
Posted by ND | May 2, 2008 12:54 PM
i don't know, i can't even say i know the intentions of the director were different than the impression i got but i really don't like that it's these like adorable 15 year old black boys running around being incredibly violent. It's sending such a bad message out to the rest of the world about minorities in france. i can't reconcile the concept and the actual content of the video.

"come to daddy" revisited, v.2008?
justice sucks. even more than aphex twin.

Hey! It's a Koutrajme production! Cool.
For all of you that hated that video ( I kinda liked it), you'll *like* this one too:

wow. that song will make a great Nike commercial. If it isn't already. Other than that, suck on my balls Justice.
Did anyone else have a vigilante style reaction to that gang of fuckfaces? How nice it would be to shoot them all in the fucking face. One by one. making them all watch, waiting for their turn to be put to 'justice'. (and yes, I know it's a 'just a video'. Still, would be nice to see their brains splattered. Isn't that what we are supposed to feel?)
Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2008 2:53 PM
I like to refer to their "music", along with other "artists" of similar nature, as music I can create with both hands tied around my ball-sack.
Posted by Farg | May 2, 2008 3:01 PM
Totally fucking pointless video. Just what the world needs...more stereotypes. Man Bites Dog is an incredible film though...highly recommended for those who have never seen it!
Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2008 3:35 PM
what does the movie "man bites dog" have to do with anything? because they speak french? it's a belgian film, numbnuts.
while the video may be emotionally detached from the subjects, i don't think it either glamorizes or demeans the actions or characters involved. it's up to you to make that decision of "bad" or "good."
this kind of shit happens just outside of paris all the time. how it is stereotyping?
Posted by god below | May 2, 2008 4:50 PM
Didn't this already exist and wasn't it called "Smack My Bitch Up" before?
Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2008 5:53 PM
pretty fucking irresponsible
Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2008 10:18 AM
I took something very different away from this video. It's subversive in it's message. If you watch the beginning of the video there's eight boys all in matching jackets. They barely look at each other, just march in a similar rhythm, and _attempt_ to destroy everything they come in contact with. I believe the filmakers were looking to treat them like a virus. Notice when they lose the first member in the bar. They just keep going, they don't care. When half of them go down to the police? Stay alive. Keep destroying. The telling point, at least in the way I see it, is when the last boy catchies _ON FIRE_ and they turn the other way to kill the camera man.
The day brought them down to three, but since the virus wasn't finished off-- it'll be back up to strength soon.
I think this is a very-anti violence video.
Just my take.

Stop bashing Justice, they make hard electro, don't like it? Stop bitching. If you don't like it, that's fine, but bitching about it achieves nothing. They have a dedicated fanbase and the more you bitch, the more you sound like a douche. So continue DOUCHING it up. Anyway,Stress is a song that's insanely rough, which matches the style of the video, which is most likely a nod to "Smack My Bitch Up". Justice are fans of Prodigy and they almost always drop "Smack My Bitch Up" in their DJ sets.
Posted by madmang | May 3, 2008 8:49 PM
I was definitely hoping for some solid comeuppance, yeah, but I can understand the merits. I don't agree with those that say this can be interpreted as condemnation, though, because the loss of the gang members was never a focus. They just got brushed aside. The focus was on the sexual abuse, vandalism, violence, robbery, and brutality. Maybe murder too?
I'm not saying that they should have done this the other way and had them all arrested, with the final shot from the camera lying sidewise on a jail cell cot. That would have been hokey. But if they had stayed with the members that were picked off for just a little bit longer it may have held up a little better for me.
It was a really well-shot video, definitely reminiscent of Come to Daddy (or even Smack my Bitch Up) and it was certainly as difficult to watch as either of those. I just don't think it worked as a message, and on a topic as explosive as this one is in Justice's home country, or anywhere else, I expected a bit more.
At the very least, I guess we're talking about it. That's something.

I dug it - at least someone is making (dare I say) 'artistic' videos these days.
Posted by the other greg | May 4, 2008 5:54 PM
"great - now frat boys are going to get more annoying and violent"
Are you people tired of making the same comments over and over? Can we let the frat boy complaints and generalizations go one of these days? There are a lot of frat boys I know that I'd rather hang out with than the douchebags on these boards.
And by the way, Justice was fucking awesome at Coachella.

"heres really no point to the video. Just a bunch of thugs runnin around causing "trouble"."
You should read more.
While I won't say that this video necessarily carries a message of non-violence, it clearly attempts to portray contemporary social unrest like that which we've seen flare up in poor communities surrounding major French cities. Perhaps this is a satirical take on the popular imagination of the French right? Maybe Justice are conservative? Who knows? Regardless, this video clearly has a point.

"How nice it would be to shoot them all in the fucking face."
perfect. this is a clinical example of a racist fantasy. someone should kick you in YOUR f'ing face.
"great - now frat boys are going to get more annoying and violent"
yessss, you're so right! violent/annoying frat boys are THE PROBLEM with our society. jesus. christ. where do you live that this is the pressing social issue?? i'm sorry you weren't popular in college but let. it. go.
in brooklyn, at least, like 90% of the muggings and assaults (and worse) are perpetrated by groups of adolescent boys with nothing to do. i can't believe the critical social commentary offered by this video even has to be defended on this site!
and why hasn't anyone mentioned La Haine? for those of you who don't "get" this video, check out that movie for a little background.
justice and i aren't surprised you didn't like this video. nobody likes to have to deal with the vilest of truths.

"i can't believe the critical social commentary offered by this video even has to be defended on this site!"
Sounds like someone's got a case of the "I've got too many Masters degrees and still no job".
Sure, being an immigrant sucks. Where you came from was likely hell, and where you are right now probably ain't too pretty either. Solution? It's called "bootstrapping yourself" - look into it.
Posted by Count Raffulon | May 5, 2008 2:57 PM
You lot are all being stupid.
Its satire, and by the look of this page, its done exactly what Justice intended.
In France the job culture is fucking insane. This video just shows us that for what it is, a bit of social commentary.
Posted by Bry | May 6, 2008 5:15 PM
"Sounds like someone's got a case of the "I've got too many Masters degrees and still no job".
Because i strung together the words "social" and "commentary"?
Why wouldn't you address the Justice video? do you just read blogs to attack commenters anonymously? you're so friggin silly!
btw, no masters degrees. i'm a corporate lawyer. I'M supposed to be the prick.

this video works in getting people's attention. However, this is not going to help the kids out there...Even if it represents a minority in those suburbs (but big enough to mess things up), this video is terribly realistic (sadly)...
Posted by Pete | May 8, 2008 2:40 AM
You people don't read the news? This isn't a serious call to arms, its hyperbole, and pretty good stuff at that, painfully ironic, and really funny in the way it plays on France's national anxiety. The "stress" in the video is not individual, it's the stress of a nation that feels threatened by its minorities and boxed in by a globalized world that is chipping away at its traditional way of life.
Justice just takes those fears to the extreme. This video is mind-blowing. Truly innovative in the music video realm. If you didn't laugh at the radio-kicking scene (and get a sense for the band's ironic schema), your whole sense of humor is off-kilter, and you should go back and watch the video with a different frame of mind.

Whether fake or real this video is utterly offensive, violent, and racist (mostly against whites), and must be prohibited to avoid new waves of French urban violence
