Largehearted Boy's Interesting CD Releases This Week

Death Cab for Cutie’s Narrow Stairs is the marquee music release this week.

Also out this week is the Black Angels’ Directions To See A Ghost. The band’s performance at its “Psychfest” show was the highlight of SXSW for me, and this album is one of 2008’s musical bright spots.

From what I have already heard, I can also strongly recommend Dosh’s Wolves and Wishes, Duffy’s Rockferry, The Instruments’ Dark Smaland, and Vetiver’s Thing of the Past. The new Old 97s disc, Blame It on Gravity (I had just about given up on the band after their last couple of albums, but this is a wonderful return to form by Rhett Miller & company).

I’ll be paying import prices for the overseas releases of Gemma Hayes’ Hollow of Morning and the Delays’ Everything’s the Rush (the band’s Faded Seaside Glamour was one of my favorite albums of 2004).

The only reissue of note this week is Hush’s release of Nick Jaina’s 2006 album, The 7 Stations.
